🍂 October Junior Ranger Program Recap! 🦇

October’s Junior Ranger program was our most attended program so far this year, with 40 Junior Rangers taking the pledge after an activity-filled morning!

Ranger Natalie Lloyd kicked off the session with an interactive lesson on how animals use their senses to survive in nature. Bats, spiders, and snakes were our featured wildlife!

Building on what we learned from Ranger Natalie, we headed outdoors to play a game called Echolocation. Participants took on the roles of either a moth or a bat, using their senses to find food or escape. What fun that was! 🦋

Later, we hit the trail for a short hike, using our own senses to discover the wonders of the park. Along the way, we learned about resurrection ferns, frogs, alligators, mushrooms, and a variety of other flora and fauna. 🌿🐸

Don’t miss your chance to explore, learn, and become a Junior Ranger! Join us for our November Junior Ranger program for more fun, discovery, and adventure in the park. We can’t wait to see you there! 🌳

🌿🥾 This week, a group of Friends of Myakka River came together to tackle the Canopy Walkway and Nature Trail!

All the recent rain—which is great for the park—has brought beautiful blooms, but it has also made traversing the trails a bit more challenging. Many of Myakka River State Park’s back trails are still experiencing flooded areas, along with muddy and wet hiking conditions.

Thanks to the hard work of these dedicated volunteers, the Nature Trail is safer and more enjoyable for everyone who visits. 💚

If you haven’t been out on the trail in a while, come check out this trail and see the great work these volunteers have done!

A big thank-you to everyone who gave their time, energy, and care to help preserve and maintain this special place. 🌿💚
