Hand To The Plow Ministries

Hand To The Plow Ministries Hand to the Plow Ministries began in 1983 with a heart for the people of Haiti and has enlarged for the world.

Reigniting the adventure of walking with God and equipping disciples is the heart and mission. Hand to the Plow began in 1983 with a vision to serve the people of Haiti. Our work has included well-drilling, rice and clothing distribution, Pastoral Leadership Conferences, work camps, and annual Christmas for Haiti trips. Over the years, this outreach has grown into Plow | Outpost—our global discip

leship initiative equipping believers for life and ministry through training, resources, and leadership development. Inspired by our early work in Haiti, our mission has always been to help people go from “bootcamp basics to battle ready” in their walk with God. Despite current travel restrictions due to instability in Haiti, we continue to support churches through our partnership with Sister Phyllis Newby, sending rice and essentials as often as possible. Hand to the Plow remains committed to keeping our hands to the plow and equipping disciples worldwide.

He is Risen! The old song says, “You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart.” And the incredible thing is that He will live in anyone’s heart who simply believes that He is the Christ and has risen from the dead! Accept Him today! He died for you to forgive all your sins and rose to fill the God-shaped hole in each of us that only He can fill! What a Savior!
— Alfred H. Ackley, from the hymn “He Lives”

Madeline, one of our dear friends and also family member, is stationed in Washington, D.C. On a tour of the Rotunda, she sang Amazing Grace. God anointed her and we are thankful for the praise and song going forth in our nation's capital.

We are deeply saddened to report that an Agape Flights plane has crashed in Haiti, with reports indicating there are likely no survivors. Our hearts are heavy as we consider the precious lives lost.

Please join us in praying for the families, friends, and all who now carry the burden of this tragedy. May God’s peace, presence, and strength surround them in the days ahead and bring comfort in the midst of unimaginable sorrow.

Here is an encouraging word from Sister Phyllis from Sunday, 1.11.26.

We are rejoicing with her and so thankful for how God continues to help, strengthen, and sustain her through every challenge.

Even in difficult circumstances, her faith remains steady and her trust in the Lord unwavering. May this word encourage your heart as it has encouraged ours. Please continue to keep Sister Phyllis, the churches, and the people she serves in your prayers.

God is faithful!

A Silent Night… and Heaven Sang

It could not have felt glorious.

Mary was nine months pregnant. Joseph was tired, responsible, and uncertain. The journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem—some 80–90 miles—was likely long and difficult. Scripture gives us no promise of a donkey. What we do know is that by the time they arrived, there was no room in the inn.

No prepared place. No midwife mentioned. Just a young couple, their first child, and a birth in a barn.

Nine months earlier, Mary had heard the voice of an angel.
Now there was silence.

And yet—this was no accident.

Seven hundred years earlier, God had spoken that the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Caesar thought he was calling a census. God was fulfilling a promise.

While it may have been a silent night for Mary and Joseph, it was not silent everywhere. On a nearby hillside, shepherds—the lowly and overlooked—heard heaven break in:

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill to men.”

God’s sign was not a throne or a crown—but a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.

Even at His birth, God was saying: the poorest and the lowliest are welcome to come and see the Lamb of God.

If life feels ordinary, inconvenient, or confusing right now, take heart. God often does His greatest work in the most unglorious places.

And He welcomes you, like the shepherds of old, to come and receive Jesus—His Son—today.

Dear Plow Friends, As we move toward Christmas, remember this:
One of the great promises of the coming of Jesus is that He brings an end to gloom, despair, and hopelessness.
Seven hundred years before Bethlehem, the prophet Isaiah looked into the future and declared:
“There will be no more gloom for those who were in distress.”
— Isaiah 9:1
Darkness may have covered the land, but God was already writing a new beginning.
And then Isaiah speaks the promise every heart still longs to hear:
“For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given…”
— Isaiah 9:6
A Child — fully human.
A Son — fully God.
Given — not earned, not deserved, but given.
This is the Christmas message:
The Light has come.
Hope has a name.
And despair does not get the last word.
His name is Jesus — Prince of Peace.
