ACTION ALERT: New Florida Proposal Threatens Public Safety
The newest proposal from Florida State Representatives will eliminate the Board of Architecture and Interior Design, along with the vast majority of other subject matter expert-led regulatory boards overseeing complex professions in the state, such as Contractors, as well as continuing education requirements for all licensed and registered professions.
The elimination of subject matter expert-led regulatory boards poses significant risks to public health, safety, and welfare. These boards provide essential oversight, accountability, and quality assurance, ensuring that only qualified individuals practice in complex professions. We are urging interior designers and members of the Florida public to ask their elected officials to oppose HB 991 and this proposal and support the continued operation of these vital regulatory boards and continuing education requirements, which could have drastic negative consequences on public safety.
