๐ŸŒŠ Nestled along the shores of the San Pablo Bay, the City of Pinole in Contra Costa County has been a powerhouse for local climate action since joining MCE in 2018.

๐Ÿก Pinole proves that small-town charm and bold sustainability go hand in hand. From its historic downtown to its scenic parks, this community is committed to a cleaner and greener future:

๐Ÿ™๏ธ Pinole leads the way with 91% of electricity accounts enrolled in MCE service, outpacing the county average of 89%, and has powered 100% of its city buildings and operations with Deep Green renewable energy since the first day they joined in 2018.

๐Ÿ’จ Pinole has eliminated 868 metric tons of carbon dioxide, while 5.5% of residents have gone the extra mile by opting up to 100% renewable energy.

๐Ÿ–‹๏ธ Under the leadership of MCE Board Member Mayor Devin T. Murphy, Pinole is a shining example of how dedicated local representation drives meaningful environmental progress. When a community chooses to prioritize the planet, everyone wins.

A big thank you to Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 342 for a special tour of their training center in Concord!๐Ÿ‘Unions are essential partners as we develop our local green workforce to fast-track California's clean energy transition.

Javier Montalbo, MCE's Customer Programs Manager, was lucky enough to tour the facility just as UA District 5โ€™s Regional Apprentice competition kicked off, bringing together talented plumbers, pipe fitters, sprinkler fitters, service technicians, and welders from across the West.

Best of luck to these skilled apprentices as they compete for an opportunity to go to the National UA Apprentice Competition in Michigan!
