Healthy, respectful manhood means valuing and respecting women, girls, and LGBTQ+, trans, and nonbinary people โ and just as importantly, valuing and respecting oneself by striving to live authentically.
It looks like:
โข Choosing empathy over control
โข Expressing emotions instead of suppressing them
โข Showing up with accountability, care, and integrity
โข Modeling respect, equity, and love for the next generation
Too often, society teaches men to live inside the โMan Boxโ โ to be tough, dominant, emotionless, and in control at all times. These expectations harm everyone. They disconnect men from themselves and contribute to violence and inequality. But there is another way.
When fathers and male-identified leaders step outside of the Man Box, they create safer homes, healthier relationships, and more equitable communities. They model what it truly means to be strong โ grounded in respect, compassion, and authenticity.
Today, we honor the fathers, caregivers, and men who are doing that work every day. And we invite all men to join in.
A Call to Men is a powerful resource supporting men and boys in redefining manhood and building a culture rooted in respect and equity. Learn more here: https://www.acalltomen.org
