“Glimpses of the Past” showcases a collection of photographs that capture moments, memories, and stories preserved in time. This inspiring exhibit will be on display at the Barbara D. Join Bay Area journalist Pamela Samaniego for an introductory lecture exploring “arts on prescription,” an emerging approach that connects individuals to structured arts programs to support social, emotional, and cognitive wellbeing, and what it could mean for Marin County.

With growing research linking social isolation to serious health outcomes, and evidence that creative participation can play a meaningful role in connection and care, this lecture offers a clear, accessible overview of how these models work, what best practices show, and what it would take to move from existing programs to a more coordinated, navigable system in Marin.

Help inspire creativity at the Fair by volunteering in the MCA Art Studio! Volunteers support children and families with hands-on art activities, help keep the studio stocked and welcoming, answer guest questions, and create a fun, safe space for creativity to thrive.

Volunteers earn two Fair tickets (valid July 1, 2, 3, and 5) for every four hours volunteered, with the opportunity to earn up to six tickets to share with friends and family. Free onsite parking is included for the day of your volunteer shift.

Experience working with children or a background in the arts is a plus. Volunteers should be comfortable lifting 10 lbs and standing for up to four hours.
