SVCREATES Elevating Silicon Valley’s Creative Culture We are a network of leaders who care about the resilience of our arts ecosystem and its impact to our community.

We are conveners, promoters, incubators, and funders of the arts. Our mission is to elevate Silicon Valley’s creative culture. We build the cultural sector’s capacity, raise the voice and visibility of our creative culture, and increase access to arts for high-need communities.

This month we are pleased to feature a blog from Director of Programs Sinjin Jones introducing SVCREATES’ 2026-2027 ArtsWeb programming.

"There is a story we often tell ourselves in the arts nonprofit world, a series of assumptions and false truths that we live by:

🔴 There is not enough money to go around.

🔴 We’re lucky just to be in the room.

Vu Le (keynote speaker at our 2026 Town Hall) often talks about this: the mentality that we are not good enough. The idea that WE know how important art is to society, and how wonderful it would be if everyone else got it the same way we do.

Every year, SVCREATES holistically examines the offerings that our ArtsWeb Capacity Building Programs will provide our grantees and the artists and arts organizations of Santa Clara County. This year, the need and the focus is clear: to help the artists and arts organizations in our community Reclaim Creativity."

Introducing the Community Catalyst Grants!

Presented by SVCREATES, the Community Catalyst Grant Program is an evolution of the Arts Access Grant. The goal of the Community Catalyst Grants is to uplift historically under-resourced populations in Santa Clara County through community-driven, impactful artistic projects. Building on the Arts Access Grants, this program intends to:

🔴 Lower the Barrier to Entry: Opens up funding to individual artists, informal collectives, and unincorporated groups who were previously ineligible.

🔴 Narrow the Focus to Community Ownership: The review process places its highest emphasis on community leadership, co-creation, and lived experience.

🔴 Simplify the Application and Reporting: The new program significantly reduces administrative burden.

Potential applicants are invited to the Applicant Information Session on Friday, September 11 from 12:00pm - 1:30pm to learn more about the changes: https://bit.ly/3TZS1rB

📢 Now recruiting arts leaders from organizations with budgets over $500k!

Now more than ever, leading an organization requires more than just solid foundational budgeting and steady cash flow. It requires financial leadership: the ability to turn data into a narrative, translate strategy into budgeting, and navigate uncertainty with vision and creativity.

Presented by SVCREATES, the Strategy and Storytelling Arts Finance Leadership Network is a two-part cohort designed to pair deep, cohort-based learning, with community investment at the highest level. This cohort is designed for leaders who have built stable foundations, navigated complex budgeting, and are now asking:

🔴 How do we use finance as strategic planning?

🔴 How can our financial strength anchor a more resilient cultural community?
