Forever home wanted: Meet Jupiter - Three legs. Full sp*ed. Zero excuses.

Jupiter is a 2-year-old chocolate lab who proves every single day that less really is more. Missing a leg hasn’t slowed him down one bit—he runs, wrestles, and plays like any other dog, and often leaves his four-legged friends in the dust.

Jupiter’s story didn’t start easy—he was rescued from the Riverside shelter severely emaciated, shot, and hit by a car. But that chapter is behind him now, and he’s made an incredible comeback. Today, he’s healthy, thriving, and ready for an even brighter future.

Looking for an adventure partner? Jupiter is ready to go. Hiking, running, exploring—he’s your guy and he loves every second of it.
Need a dog-friendly companion? Even better. Jupiter thrives with other dogs and would love a playful canine sibling to keep the fun going.
Have kids? No problem. He’s currently fostered with kids and fits right in.

He’s housebroken, crate trained, and has great house manners. No destructive habits here—just a happy dog who enjoys carrying his toys around like little trophies and settling in for a well-earned nap after a day of fun.

Jupiter is the total package: resilient, joyful, and full of life. He’s deeply bonded to his foster family, but he’s ready for a forever home that will match his energy, appreciate his spirit, and see him for exactly who he is—a dog who refuses to be defined by his past.

If you’re looking for a dog who will keep up, make you laugh, and remind you daily what pure happiness looks like—Jupiter is waiting.

Jupiter is located in Southern California.

Foster or Forever Home Wanted: Meet Kira!

Kira is a happy, athletic girl who loves walks, hikes, fetch, paddle boarding, and being by her person’s side. A volunteer favorite, she rides well in the car, walks nicely on leash, and knows cues like sit, down, stay, and touch. She's smart, eager to learn, and always ready for her next adventure.

While Kira enjoys staying active, she's also incredibly affectionate. She loves cuddles, belly rubs, and soaking up attention from her favorite people. Fetch is one of her favorite games—though she sometimes prefers to keep the ball for herself!

Kira has been with the rescue since February 2023 after being pulled from SEACCA as a very sick dog. Years in boarding have been difficult for this intelligent, active girl, and she can become overstimulated by things like joggers or motorcycles. She needs an adopter who understands her needs, can help her decompress when stressed, and will give her the structure and exercise she thrives on.

Kira does best with dogs who enjoy her enthusiastic, wrestling-style play. She bonds deeply with her people and is friendly overall, though she prefers low-pressure introductions and would do best in an adult home or one with older, respectful children.

If you're looking for an active, loving companion, Kira may be your perfect match.

SENIOR ALERT - FOSTER NEEDED!

Foster or forever home wanted, meet Maui.

Maui is why we have a "friends" division here at Labradors and Friends. We saw a plea from the shelter for a severely injured geriatric pug in need of immediate rescue. We jumped into action and got her to the vet as quickly as possible where they determined she needed surgery to close several large gapping wounds on her chest and legs. We have no idea what happened to her, but she is safe with us and recovering from surgery at the hospital at this time.

Maui entered the shelter the first time in February of 2018. She had a pr*****ed eye that required removal. It's unclear when she was adopted from her first stay at the shelter, but she was surrendered by her owner with wounds that present as if she was attacked by another animal.

Maui was having honey wraps applied every couple of days to help the growth of healthy tissue for two weeks. Maui will stay at the vets for the wraps but will be looking for a foster or adopter after that time.

We do not know anything about her at this time but will update her bio as she heals and we get the opportunity to know her.

If you are interested in getting to know more about Maui, please head over to www.labradorsandfriends.org and fill out an application.

Maui is located in Southern California.

Foster or Forever Home Wanted: Meet Libby!

Libby is a sweet girl who just needs a little bit of time and patience to show her true, wonderful self. She came to Labradors and Friends Dog Rescue in a lot of pain with one of her paws degloved. After receiving treatment from our vet, she is now fully recovered! We aren’t sure how her injury happened, but it helps explain her initial shyness and fear around new people.

Libby loves to play fetch (she brings it back and even drops it!) and enjoys playing with other dogs. She rides well in the car, happily soaking up the breeze, and is house trained and walks beautifully on leash.

Libby will need a home that can provide structure, boundaries, and ongoing safe socialization, as she has a tendency to guard the people she loves. Her ideal home would be a quiet, adult household with a big backyard, in a low-traffic area. She would also thrive with another confident canine companion to show her the ropes.

If you think you can give Libby the loving, supportive home she deserves, please email [email protected] or fill out an online application at www.labradorsandfriends.org.

Libby is located in Southern California.

Foster or forever home wanted: Meet Luna!

Luna is a 3-year-old Labrador mix who’s ready for a fresh start. After spending most of her early life outdoors and being left behind when her family moved, Luna is finally getting her chance to learn what it means to be part of a home.

She may take a minute to warm up, but once she trusts you, Luna is incredibly sweet and loyal. She’s looking for an adult-only home with no other animals.
Luna would do best with an experienced handler who understands structure, boundaries, and giving a dog a purpose.

She already has some training under her belt and knows commands like sit and down.

She loves toys, and enjoys her walks.

Luna needs someone willing to meet her where she’s at and help her become her best self.

If you’re ready to give Luna the structure, leadership, and commitment she deserves, head to www.labradorsandfriends.org to fill out an application.

Foster or Forever home wanted: Meet Maggie

Foster or Forever Home Wanted: Meet Bobby!

Bobby’s shelter countdown was getting way too close for comfort. After landing at the overcrowded Riverside shelter on 3/30, this fun-loving young guy was running out of time before volunteers stepped in and asked us to help. Of course, we couldn’t say no to that face!

Bobby is currently hanging out in boarding while we search for a foster or — even better — a forever home. We’re still getting to know him, but so far Bobby has proven himself to be sweet, social, dog friendly, people friendly, and full of playful puppy energy. His favorite thing? BALLS. Toss one and you’ve instantly become his best friend.

Like most young dogs, Bobby will benefit from continued training, structure, and a little confidence building, but he’s eager, happy, and ready to learn. Underneath all that goofy energy is a really great dog just waiting for someone to give him a chance.

If you’d like to meet Bobby, please fill out an application at www.labradorsandfriends.org.

Foster or Forever Home Wanted: Meet Clover!

One by one, Clover watched his siblings head off with their forever families… and now this sweet Valentine’s baby is the last one still waiting for his turn.

Clover is pure puppy joy wrapped up in floppy ears and endless wiggles. He’s playful, affectionate, smart, and always ready for his next adventure — whether that’s zooming around the yard, collecting toys, or sneaking in cuddle time.

This little guy has already beaten the odds. Back in April, Clover and 8 of his siblings bravely battled parvo after suddenly becoming sick. It was scary, emotional, and touch-and-go at times, but these puppies proved they’re fighters. Every single one recovered beautifully, with sister Harper somehow magically avoiding the virus altogether.

Now Clover is thriving and ready to leave the puppy chapter behind for a forever family of his own. He’s rocking p*e pad training, sleeps like a champ, eats like a pro, and is being raised in an experienced foster home where he’s learning all the important puppy basics while socializing with people and other dogs.

Clover is the total package: cute, resilient, happy, and overflowing with love. All he’s missing is someone to call his own.

Ready to meet Clover? Fill out an application at www.labradorsandfriends.org.

An apple a day keeps the doctor away… but adopting Apple just might heal your heart. 🍎

Foster or Forever Home Wanted: Meet Apple!

Apple came into the shelter as a stray, and this soulful sweetheart has been waiting for someone to finally see her. Luckily, we did.

Listed as a 4-year-old black Lab, we think Apple may have a few extra candles on her cake — maybe closer to 6 or 7 — but honestly? That just makes her even sweeter. Apple is mellow, loving, loyal, and ready to be someone’s best friend.

She’s the perfect match for someone who enjoys slow walks, quiet companionship, and a devoted shadow by their side. Apple would do best as the only animal in the home and is not a dog park or dog beach kind of gal. She’s more of a “let’s take a peaceful stroll and then relax together” type.

If you’re looking for a soft-hearted best friend with soulful eyes and so much love to give, Apple may just be your girl. Apply to adopt at www.labradorsandfriends.org/adopt.

Apple is located in Southern California.
