Foster or Forever Home Wanted!! Meet Apple!

Apple came into the shelter as a stray, and this soulful lady has been patiently waiting for someone to notice her ever since. Lucky for her, we did! Listed as a 4-year-old black Lab, we think Apple may have a few extra candles on her cake—maybe 6 or 7—but don’t let that stop you. She’s the kind of mellow, loving dog that only gets better with age.

She’s the total package for someone who wants a loyal shadow, a slow walker, and a soft heart with four paws. Apple would do best as the only animal in the home and will not be a candidate for dog beach/park outings. If you're looking for a best friend to match your slower pace and deeper appreciation for the little things, Apple might just be your gal.

This week reminds us just how many different forms a second chance can take.

🩺 Lucille needs surgery—and we're hoping we caught her mammary mass in time.

🏡 Kennedy is still waiting for someone to realize what a really, really good dog he is.

❤️ Lilo found her forever family...and a whole pack to call her own.

🐾 Tara is safe and beginning the next chapter of her journey.

🖤 And we remember Fozzie Bear—a little fighter whose second chance helped inspire something much bigger: LAF's Paw Up! Fund.

Foster or Forever Home Wanted: Meet Kennedy!

Kennedy spent 96 days in a shelter waiting for someone to choose him. Despite arriving as a stray with no collar, microchip, or family who came looking, this affectionate, happy boy never lost his spirit.

Now in a foster home, Kennedy is proving he’s the total package! He is potty trained with zero accidents, sleeps quietly in his crate, and walks beautifully on leash without pulling. He remains calm when passing other dogs and enjoys walking with canine buddies, though slow introductions are always best.

Kennedy loves people and recently relaxed outside at Yogurtland while the world passed by, making him a great candidate for coffee shops, patios, and other dog-friendly adventures.

He gets short bursts of energy in the morning and evening, but 15 minutes of his favorite activity—fetch—is usually enough to earn an all-day nap. Give this boy a tennis ball and he’s thrilled!

Kennedy knows “sit,” is nearly there with “stay,” takes treats gently, and is easy to train because he’s motivated by food and tennis balls. His only work in progress is containing his excitement. He can be jumpy when greeting people and hasn’t quite mastered personal space, so he may accidentally knock over very young children.

After waiting 96 days, Kennedy is ready to trade kennel life for a couch and a family of his own.

Forever Home Wanted: Meet Jesse!

Jesse is a one-year-old, 77-pound Lab mix who spent an unbelievable 473 days waiting in two loud, overwhelming shelters. As the months passed, the stress took its toll, leaving him scared and shut down.

When Jesse was labeled rescue-only and his time was running out, an incredible foster stepped up—and we brought him to safety.

Instead of facing an unimaginable outcome, Jesse received the greatest gift: TIME.

Time to decompress.
Time to feel safe.
Time to learn that people can be kind.
Time to finally be a dog.

Jesse is slowly settling in and discovering that life is no longer about surviving in a shelter kennel. We can’t wait to watch this beautiful boy blossom as his personality begins to shine.

For now, Jesse needs patience, love, and a family willing to give him the time he has always deserved. His real life is just beginning.

Forever home wanted: Meet Gianna!

Gianna is an irresistibly adorable 4-month-old Pug puppy who found herself at the San Jacinto shelter. She has cherry eye in her left eye, but that’s an easy fix—and we’ll make sure she gets all patched up!

Gianna is sweet, squishy, ridiculously cute, and ready to trade shelter life for puppy snuggles, playtime, and a family of her own. She’s brand new to the rescue, so we’re still getting to know her, but seriously… what’s not to love about a Pug puppy?!

Foster or Forever Home Wanted: Meet Gracie Lou!

Gracie Lou is a gorgeous young black Lab mix, possibly with a touch of Greyhound or another tall, lanky breed. At just 1–2 years old, her long legs and soulful eyes turn heads everywhere she goes.

She’s people-friendly, dog-friendly, and eager to learn. Gracie Lou is strong and energetic, so she’ll thrive with a confident handler who can continue the training she’s already started. She’s incredibly treat-motivated, making training fun, rewarding, and a great way to build a lasting bond.

To help set her up for success, anyone who fosters or adopts Gracie Lou will receive free training sessions with her trainer to make the transition as smooth as possible.

Forever Home Wanted: Meet Murphy!

Murphy is a 2-year-old, 40 lb Labrador/Bull Terrier mix who’s ready to hop (literally!) into his next chapter. This compact cutie is bursting with love, charm, and just the right amount of goofiness — and he’d be thrilled to do all his waiting in a cozy foster home instead of a kennel.

Murphy is a social butterfly who adores people and loves making new friends. Because he can get a little mouthy when excited, he’d do best in a home with older, considerate kids. And about that yard — this boy has springs for legs, so he’ll need a secure 6-foot+ fence to keep his bunny-hopping self safely grounded.

On leash, Murphy walks nicely and is non-reactive to most dogs (unless you’re a fluffy white tiny dog — then yes, he has opinions). He knows his basic commands and is dog-friendly with proper introductions. With his rough-and-tumble play style, he’ll thrive with dogs his size or larger who can match his energy. He’s very tolerant, but he can get a bit overstimulated, so he’ll benefit from a handler who can help him settle and decompress when needed.

Murphy is an active boy who needs daily exercise to be his best self — walks, playtime, or even a few minutes on the treadmill (which he surprisingly enjoys!). Once he’s had his fun and gets his wiggles out, he’s happy to curl up on his bed for some calm, cozy downtime.
