The world lost a little extra sparkle last week. Dolly Parton has always reminded us that changing the world doesn’t require a title — just a deep love for people and a belief in the power of stories.

Her Imagination Library put that belief into action for millions of children. Each book she shared helped build confidence, curiosity, connection, and a brighter future.

At United Through Reading, her legacy feels especially close to our hearts. We see every day what a book, a special story, and the voice of someone you love can mean to a child.

Thank you, Dolly, for showing us all how it’s done, and for reminding us to leave this world a little kinder than we found it.

We love working in the Hampton Roads, VA area and are so excited to serve such a vibrant and diverse military community.

Whether we’re meeting families at our Story Station pop ups, helping parents record stories before a deployment, hosting employee engagement events, or celebrating military kids, we love being part of this military community and helping families stay connected through shared storytime.

A huge thank you to the WaWa Foundation for their support in the region. We’re excited to deepen our connections there in the years to come! 💙
