The second Dragon’s Den session for 2026 has now taken place at Glenroyd House in Consett, where young people from The King’s Trust programme presented their exciting community restoration project to a panel of Durham Freemasons Dragons.

Glenroyd House sits at the heart of the Consett community, providing advice, guidance and support on issues including mental health, debt management and wellbeing, alongside learning opportunities, a food bank and a welcoming drop-in café.

The team of 16 young people are planning to restore and revitalise the garden area to the rear of the building, creating a more accessible outdoor community space where local people can relax and connect. Their plans also include developing a vegetable growing area to help supply fresh produce for use in the café.

The project is expected to take around three weeks to complete, and the Dragons have already received an open invitation to return and see the progress being made.

Representing Durham Freemasons as Dragons were WBro Bill Walby, WBro David Winter and WBro Stan Fitches, accompanied by Bro Eric Heatherington of St Aidan Lodge.

Another fantastic example of young people making a positive difference in their communities through the support of Durham Freemasons Charity and The King’s Trust.

At Holy Trinity Conclave No. 311, Torquay, the conclave gathered for a memorable evening to welcome a new knight into the order, David Holland of Benevolent Chapter No. 303.

Though the conclave was small in number, the spirit of the occasion was strong,
with visitors kindly stepping in to help the event run smoothly.
Under the command of MPS John B., and with Intendant General Nic serving as prefect, everything was carried out with care and dignity.

The oration, delivered by David G., was done very well, adding to the sense of occasion.
In the end, it was a fine evening spent in the company of Christian Knights.
