Intro to Candle Making: Fall Candle Edition

Learn to make your own Candles!

Get cozy and creative this Fall with a hands-on candle-making workshop designed for both beginners and experienced makers. In this seasonal edition, Instructor K.C. will teach the fundamentals while you create your own candles. You’ll choose from a variety of cozy fall scents and seasonal vessel options, giving you the opportunity to create candles that are not only beautiful and fragrant, but perfect for the season. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll cover:

The basics of working with soy wax
The difference between fragrance oils and essential oils
How to properly melt, pour, and set your candles
Wick selection and placement for a clean, even burn
How to safely add fragrance and achieve a well-scented candle
How to work with different vessel styles, including seasonal novelty vessels
Troubleshooting common candle-making mistakes so your candles turn out just right
Whether you’re drawn to warm and comforting fragrances or something sweet and festive, there will be plenty of options to get you into the Fall spirit. By the end of class, you’ll head home with two of your own handcrafted candles (8.5 ounces and 4 ounces), new candle-making skills, and practical tips to continue creating at home. This class is perfect for beginners looking to learn the fundamentals, as well as intermediate makers who want to explore new scents, vessels, and techniques.

No experience necessary. Ages 15+ welcome, or ages 12+yrs with an adult!

Fiber Arts Workshop | Kinusaiga: Japanese Art of Painting with Fabric

Beginners welcome! Ages 14+years! Discover Kinusaiga, a Japanese fabric art technique that transforms colorful fabric scraps into beautiful mosaics—no needle, thread, or sewing required! In this fun, 3-hour workshop, you will choose from several designs, explore color and pattern, and learn step by step how to tuck fabric into grooves to create your own vibrant work of art.

Kinusaiga is wonderfully relaxing and surprisingly addictive—a chance to slow down, get creative, and enjoy the deeply satisfying process of making something by hand. All materials are provided, but you’re welcome to bring your own fabric scraps (even tiny ones)—including cherished pieces of clothing or meaningful textiles you’d like to repurpose into your artwork. Each student will create an 8×8” project to take home.

Natural Beeswax Lip Balm Workshop...

Learn how to make your own self care products at home!
Beginners welcome! Ages 15+years! Join us for a special workshop with Guest Artisan & Instructor Chelsea Lööw, visiting from Sweden and introducing a limited series of workshops with the Craft Collective this year! An educational, hands-on workshop for those who want to experience the freedom and creativity of making their own all-natural lip balm from scratch. In this 2-hour class, you’ll learn about the properties and benefits of beeswax and different carrier oils then create a custom batch of lip balm using a selection of organic beeswax, nourishing carrier oils, essential oils, and natural tints. Each participant will leave with 5 tins of their own lip balm (each tin has 8 grams of balm), plus the knowledge to make more at home. It’s Choose Your Own Adventure, Lip Balm Edition!

This unique workshop is more than a basic recipe and instructions. It’s a beautiful range of ingredients and a deep dive into the folklore of these ancient oils. For a hint of color, there are mica tints in different hues and even playful flavors. The results are completely custom and very repeatable.

Alebrijes & Imagination Workshop started on Friday! Students will finish on Sunday as they paint their animal creations! We can't wait to see them all finished. They're off to a beautiful start!

New class alert!
Micro-Macramé Bracelet Making

Beginners welcome! Ages 13+years! Want to learn how to make your own macrame jewelry?

Join us in this unique in-person, beginner-friendly class! Instructor Jennifer Areas will teach you how to use fine waxed cords and delicate knotting techniques to make lightweight, wearable art. You will learn 3 variations of knots and each student will create one bracelet. Each student will create one bracelet in this workshop. Depending on your pace and skills, you may create up to two bracelets. After this class, you’ll be able to continue creating and practicing the art of micro-macramé at home.

No experience necessary. All materials provided.

One thing you may not know about us is that we work with folks with varied abilities. These pumpkins are part of a clay series with one of our star students who comes to us through San Diego Regional Center.
This student had never touched clay before, and started private lessons last year on the wheel. He's now exploring handbuilding with clay. We love to see the joy in his face when he is creating in our studio.

Día de Mu***os Alebrijes & Imagination Workshop

Ages 10+years are welcome! Join Ms Cristy, Mexican-American artist & educator, as she guides students in preparation for Día de los Mu***os. In this session, you will create your own alebrije, a one-of-a-kind magical creature utilizing different media, choosing its colors, patterns, and personality. Discover the colorful world of Mexican Alebrijes and learn about the imaginative creatures that have become an iconic part of Mexican folk art. In the first class, we will create the forms for our creatures. And in the second class, we will spend time painting and adding color and pattern to our dried pieces. Join us for this playful, hands-on-experience where creativity has no limits.
