Some stories stay with you long after an event ends.

Last week, our inspiHER Series brought our community together for Finding Our Voices: The Power of Confidence, Collaboration & Philanthropy. One of the most moving parts of the morning was hearing from Leap to Success graduates Sara Hassani and Lisbet Perez, who generously shared their stories of finding confidence, reclaiming their voices, and moving forward.

Lisbet spoke about how much it meant to see the program become available in Spanish, reminding us that “language shouldn’t be a barrier to support or resources.” We also learned about the transformation from victim to survivor to thriver, a powerful reflection of the journey from reaching safety to rebuilding confidence, recognizing one’s worth, and creating new possibilities.

Thank you to Sara and Lisbet for trusting us with their stories. We are also deeply grateful to Dana Bristol-Smith, Founder and CEO of Leap to Success and Claudia Grasso, Executive Director of One Safe Place for sharing their perspectives and for the incredible work their organizations do to support survivors and their families throughout our community.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this meaningful event in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

In recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, our board member Kelsey Wadman and Dana Bristol-Smith, Founder and CEO of Leap to Success, joined K**I to discuss our upcoming event, Finding Our Voices: The Power of Confidence, Collaboration & Philanthropy.

This Thursday, we’ll explore how confidence, collaboration, and philanthropy can support survivors as they rebuild their lives. We’ll also hear directly from women sharing their own stories of resilience, possibility, and finding their voices.

There’s still time to join us. Tickets are available, and both members and nonmembers are welcome.

Reaching safety is an essential first step, but survivors and their families may need many forms of support as they begin moving forward. That is where collaboration can make a powerful difference.

Claudia Grasso, Deputy District Attorney and Executive Director of One Safe Place: San Diego County Family Justice Centers , has seen what becomes possible when organizations coordinate their expertise and resources. By bringing services and community partners together, One Safe Place helps survivors access comprehensive support in a safe and welcoming environment.

On October 22, Claudia will join Dana Bristol-Smith of Leap to Success to explore how collaboration can create a continuum of support, from reaching safety to rebuilding confidence, recognizing one’s value, and pursuing new opportunities.

What does it mean to find your voice, and how can confidence help someone begin moving forward?

In 2008, Dana Bristol-Smith founded Leap to Success around the belief that confidence and communication skills could help women rebuilding their lives after domestic violence and other adversity. Since then, Leap to Success has helped more than 4,000 women reclaim their voices, recognize their worth, and build the confidence to pursue new possibilities.

On October 22, Dana will join us for Finding Our Voices: The Power of Confidence, Collaboration & Philanthropy. She’ll share how her own journey of finding her voice inspired the creation of Leap to Success and what she has learned from nearly two decades of helping women rebuild their confidence.

We hope you’ll join us for this meaningful event in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

What a creative and meaningful evening!

Last night, our members and guests gathered at The New Children's Museum for The Layers We Lead With. Through a hands-on art activity, we had the opportunity to reflect, express ourselves, and learn more about one another.

Thank you to our partner and in-kind sponsor, The New Children's Museum, for welcoming us into your space and guiding us through the experience.

We are also grateful to our in-kind sponsor, Sissy's Sourdough, for creating the gorgeous sourdough tower and charcuterie boats. They were just as delicious as they were beautiful!

Cheers to new connections!

Yesterday, we gathered at Embolden B**r Company for our first New Member Happy Hour of the year. It was wonderful to see new members getting to know one another, connecting with longtime members, and learning more about the many ways to get involved with SDWF.

A special thank you to our in-kind sponsor, Embolden B**r Co., for helping us create such a warm and welcoming evening. As a local, woman co-founded business built around community and inclusivity, Embolden was the perfect place to bring our members together.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped welcome the newest members of our community. We look forward to many more conversations and connections throughout the year!
