Another Specialty Workshop in the books, and our participants are leaving as Excel pros.

Spreadsheets are part of nearly every nonprofit role, and most of us taught ourselves along the way. This hands-on session walked participants step by step through formulas, absolute references, sorting, and time-saving shortcuts, with practice time built in.

Why do nonprofit grant applications get rejected?

It's rarely because the mission wasn't compelling. Far more often it comes down to a few fixable things:

→ A mismatch between your work and the funder's priorities
→ A requirement missed somewhere in the guidelines
→ An ask that's too big, too vague, or not clearly tied to outcomes
→ A proposal that answers what you want to say instead of what the funder asked

The strongest applications aren't the most beautifully written — they're the ones that make it easy for a reviewer to say yes: right funder, right fit, right amount, every question answered in the format requested.
