𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗘𝗖𝗙 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗼𝗱𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗔𝗻𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿

Sometimes, an animal can provide something that words cannot: comfort, connection and companionship.

ECF awarded $10,000 to Helen Woodward Animal Center for Pet Encounter Therapy, bringing therapy animals to skilled nursing facilities, memory care communities, recovery centers and social service organizations.

The program creates opportunities for people to connect with animals in settings where that interaction can bring comfort and engagement.

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗘𝗖𝗙 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Project Street Vet

For people experiencing homelessness or housing instability, caring for a beloved pet can come with significant barriers.

ECF awarded $10,000 to Project Street Vet for Escondido Outreach, providing free veterinary care for pets belonging to people experiencing homelessness and housing instability.

By bringing veterinary care directly to people and their pets, Project Street Vet helps address an important need while supporting the bond between people and their animals.

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗘𝗖𝗙 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Ride Above Disability Therapeutic Riding Center

The connection between people and animals can take many forms and for some, it can become part of a therapeutic experience.

ECF awarded $25,000 to Ride Above Disability Therapeutic Riding Center for Improving Access to Escondido Residents, expanding access to therapeutic riding and equine-assisted activities that support physical, emotional and mental well-being.

This program creates opportunities for Escondido residents to experience the benefits of connection, movement and time with horses.

We’re proud to support Ride Above Disability Therapeutic Riding Center as one of our 2026 grantees.

It is with profound sadness that the Escondido Community Foundation shares the passing of 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘳 𝘧𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥, 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘮𝘱𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘤𝘩𝘢𝘪𝘳, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯𝘢𝘳𝘺 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘦𝘳, 𝙅𝙖𝙘𝙠 𝙍𝙖𝙮𝙢𝙤𝙣𝙙, who passed away early Monday morning.

Jack was a cornerstone of our community and our organization. His extraordinary generosity and unwavering commitment transformed the landscape of philanthropy in our community and our entire region.

We are deeply heartbroken, but we find comfort in knowing that Jack's incredible legacy lives through the many years of enormous generosity and philanthropic leadership that he provided. His impact in lives of others has been unmatched.

Join us in extending our deepest condolences to Jack's wife Caroline, daughters Rebecca and Midge, and his beloved granddaughter Jackie during this difficult time.

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗘𝗖𝗙 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: SNAP - Spay Neuter Action Project

Keeping pets healthy starts with access to essential care.

ECF awarded $33,000 to Spay Neuter Action Project (SNAP) for Low-Cost Spay/Neuter for Escondido Pets, providing affordable spay and neuter, vaccination and microchipping services for local pet owners.

By helping make these services more accessible, SNAP supports healthier pets and helps Escondido families care for the animals who are part of their lives.

We’re pleased to support SNAP as part of our 2026 grant cycle.

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗘𝗖𝗙 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: 𝗦𝗮𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝗲𝗴𝗼 𝗭𝗼𝗼 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗳𝗲 𝗔𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲

What happens when students have the opportunity to experience wildlife education firsthand?

ECF awarded $35,000 to San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance for Escondido Students at the Safari Park, providing free transportation, admission and educational programming for Escondido elementary school classrooms, with a focus on Title I schools serving under-resourced communities.

The program gives students the opportunity to explore, learn and build a deeper appreciation for wildlife and the natural world.

We’re proud to support opportunities that bring meaningful educational experiences to Escondido students.

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗘𝗖𝗙 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: FACE Foundation

When a pet faces a life-threatening medical emergency, access to veterinary care can make all the difference.

ECF awarded $35,000 to Foundation for Animal Care and Education (FACE) for its Save-A-Life program, providing financial assistance to Escondido families facing urgent veterinary emergencies so their pets can receive the care they need.

Supporting access to veterinary care helps families keep the animals who are an important part of their lives.

We’re grateful to support FACE and its work in the Escondido community.

𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 𝗘𝗖𝗙 𝗚𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗦𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁: Frosted Faces Foundation

Aging pets deserve a chance to stay with the people who love them.

ECF awarded $35,000 to Frosted Faces Foundation for its Senior Animal Programs to Support People & Pets, helping Escondido residents adopt and foster senior pets while providing ongoing veterinary care to help pets and their families stay together.

Through this support, ECF is investing in the bond between people and their animals and helping make that bond possible for more Escondido residents.

We’re proud to support Frosted Faces Foundation as one of our 2026 grantees.

What a wonderful evening celebrating the 2026 ECF grantees and the human-animal bond that connects people, pets and our community 🐕🐈🐾

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our 2026 Grants Celebration at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido. It was a special evening celebrating seven local nonprofits and the work they’re doing to expand access to veterinary care, therapeutic animal programs, pet support and wildlife education for Escondido residents.

This year’s $183,000 in grants is made possible by the generosity and commitment of our ECF members and supporters.

We’re excited to introduce you to this year’s grantees and share more about the work they’re doing in our community.
