The SWE-San Diego section has a rich 37 year history of advancing the image of engineering. Discover our programs and how you can get more involved.

We work together to create opportunities to grow and thrive in our careers and our lives. The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) is a nonprofit educational organization comprised of men and women who support the advancement of women in engineering. The San Diego Section (SWE-SD) was chartered in 1982 and is now one of the largest SWE sections in the country. Our programs and publications have won national acclaim, while our dynamic leaders have won national attention. The members of SWE-SD come from diverse areas such as government, defense, research, consulting, and manufacturing. SWE-SD has gained recognition from many employers that our programs are worth supporting. The large community involvement by women engineers sends a message to corporations that SWE’s goals are important.

SWE-SD Fun Friday evening together at The Rady Shell! ❤️🎶

SWE San Diego members came together for the Two Cities Concert, and the threat of impending rain didn’t keep us away! We were rewarded with perfect weather, beautiful music, and plenty of laughter.

At SWE San Diego, connections go beyond our professional lives. It’s about building friendships, strengthening our community, and creating memories together.

More than an organization, SWE is a community that brings people together.

Save the date! Our next member engagement is planned for December 17 at The Rady Shell for Noel Noel! We look forward to another evening of music, friendship, and connection with our SWE family. 🎄

BIG announcement: Last Thursday at SWE SD Open House,
4 SWENexters just earned the President’s Volunteer Service Award from SWE SD.

We are SO proud to celebrate Camille, Madison, Cammie, and Shaari CHS SWE Next Club! High School and Westview SWENext x WiSTEM High School**, four incredible young women who together logged a combined 350+ hours of service this year, earning the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) through SWE San Diego. 👏

For context: to even qualify for this award, volunteers 16 and older need 100 hours, and those 15 and younger need 50. **Together, these SWENexters didn’t just meet the bar. They blew past it.** 350 combined hours of mentoring younger students, running STEM outreach, building robots, organizing events, and lifting up their communities, week after week, all while balancing school and everything else life throws at them.

This matters because it’s proof of something we believe deeply at SWE San Diego: leadership doesn’t wait for a title. Camille, Madison, Cammie, and Shaari didn’t wait until college or their first job to start making an impact. They started now, in their own schools and communities, and the ripple effect is real. Every younger student who watched them
