Bring joy to communities who live with much less as part of the Filgrimage immersion experience on July 6-16, 2023.

Help us reach our goal of $3000 so we can bring a day of celebration and fellowship to an Aeta community (in Sito Bulacan, Capas, Tarlac), a Gawad Kalinga Village (in Cabiao, Nueva Ecija), and a Community Kitchen volunteer group (in Baseco).

At the end of each day’s community visit and service, as we get to know the people more, we would like to leave the children some goodies, and each family the security of their next few meals. With your help, our hope is to serve as many of them as possible.

Filipino culture allows us to experience an expanded meaning of the word Mother (Inay, Nanay).

Inay (Mother) can mean a lot of things to a Filipino child. She’s the "ilaw ng tahanan" (light of the home) who birthed and molded us to become who we are today. For millions of Filipinos in the Philippines, Inay is the breadwinner working abroad, so they can live a more comfortable life.

Inay can also refer to a Lola, Tita, kapitbahay (neighbor), family friend, or even kasambahay (helper) who treated us like one of their own. Showering us with unconditional love and care even if they're not our mother by blood.

Whatever this word means or represent to you, may you find time to thank Inay, today.

From us here at The Filipino School, Happy Mother’s Day!

Eid Mubarak!

It’s the morning of May 2 in the Philippines and Sunday night here in the States. Eid al-Fitr which starts from sundown on May 1 to sundown of May 2 marks the end of Ramadan, the Muslim holy month of fasting.

Muslims in the Philippines, whose political history spans at least five centuries, has the longest political experience compared to other groups in the Southeast Asian nation, according to Mindanao State University-Sulu professor Hannbal Bara. Bara also noted that the main concentration of the Philippine Muslim population is confined largely to the western side of Mindanao down to the Sulu Archipelago.

Mindanao is the Philippines’s second largest island, after Luzon.
