Infosecurity Magazine states that August set a new high for the number of cyber extortion campaigns, as over 1,000 organizations were hit globally.

Notable incidents during August included a cyber-attack which targeted Boston Dynamics and a data breach by hackers which affected Manchester Airport Group.

Industrial operations were the top target, accounting for 31% of reported incidents, followed by consumer goods and services (18%), healthcare (12%), and IT (11%).
