Below is the story of hope and restoration. It’s about Charity, a new student at Daylight. Our Technology teacher Mercy tells her story:
“Charity and her family lived peacefully in laikipia county. Then around last year as you know the pokot community are pastrolist , and they have to wander around for greener pastures for their cattle in the process they came across a closed ranch i think they tried to let their cattle graze there unfortunately it was a private property and it led to clashes. Unfortunately Charity's father and mother were shot and they both died. Luckily they had a step mum so she had to escape with kids without knowing an exact destination,, in the process the found themselves in Narok county where they did menial jobs for a while and things went south the Maasai community fought again with the pokots forcing them to migrate again a good Samaritan whom he had hosted them advised them to escape to west pokot since they could find peace over there and she offerd them some petty cash for their transportation,, they travelled all the way to Kitale then to Kapenguria unfortunately their transport fees couldn't enable them reach their destination they arrived at a place called Aruba there they were received by good Samaritan again who hosted them while they did menial jobs until one day someone told them about Daylight and thats how she ended here, Angelina gave her some uniforms, books and daylight staff did a mini fundraising and we bought her all the essentials for boarding.”
