A powerful moment in our Dance Party performances will be our rendition of “Prohibido Olvidar” (“Forbidden to Forget”) by Rubén Blades. The song delivers a profound message about the importance of remembering historical injustices and the devastating consequences of authoritarian regimes in Latin America. It calls on listeners to learn from past political failures to prevent the rise of future oppression, while honoring those whose rights and freedoms were silenced — including the rights to education, protest, and free expression.
As we perform this piece, we’ll hold our Venezuelan friends close in mind, recognizing that the struggles they experienced in their homeland serve as a reminder that democracy and civil liberties must never be taken for granted anywhere.

Join us on May 15 and 17 for performances filled with moving, vibrant, and passionate music that will inspire audiences of all ages.

Here’s a clip from last night’s rehearsal as we prepare for this weekend’s Dance Party events. It’s the transition from “Gracias a la Vida” into “La Vida Es Un Carnaval” – songs celebrating life, resilience, optimism, and community, with an abundance of gratitude and joy. Join us May 15 and 17 – we promise a lively, upbeat, and fun time for all ages!
