Hope Arts Center hosted a stunning evening of music last night with pianist Osip Nikiforov, whose performance of Liszt and Tchaikovsky delivered power and poetry.

“Osip brings exquisite sensitivity to this music. It was a privilege to experience these masterworks in such an intimate setting, and to share the evening with a community so deeply engaged in the performance.”
— Madeline Cieslak, Hope Arts Center Executive Director

This Friday at House of Hope, pianist Osip Nikiforov brings an evening of virtuosity and emotional depth with music of Liszt and Tchaikovsky. From dazzling technique to moments of extraordinary lyricism, this program promises both power and poetry.

We’re delighted to share a glimpse of Osip performing, here a piece by Rachmaninoff, and look forward to hearing his artistry live in the sanctuary’s acoustics.

Osip Nikiforov is a 2026 recipient of a Creative Individuals Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

“Many of us know instinctively that taking part in creative and cultural activities is vital for a happy, flourishing life,” said Hollie Smith-Charles, the director of creative health and change programmes at Arts Council England. “These impressive new findings are further evidence that arts, museums and libraries help us live well for longer, and demonstrate how vital it is that everyone, everywhere has access to excellent and affordable culture on their doorstep.”

Research from UCL suggests visiting art galleries or museums, singing and painting can help improve health outcomes

Today was the Giving Voice Spring Concert, held at Sundin Music Hall. The theme, “Songs from Our Childhood,” brought both laughter and happy tears to many in the audience, with favorites including “Leaving on a Jet Plane,” “When You Wish Upon a Star,” and “Both Sides Now.”

House of Hope Presbyterian Church and Hope Arts Center host the St. Paul Giving Voice choir on Tuesdays throughout the year and we are honored to support their important work as they advocate for living well with dementia and shift the narrative from loss to possibility, from isolation to belonging. Exploring the historical connection and stylistic influences between Franz Liszt and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Mr. Nikiforov will present rarely heard gems, including Tchaikovsky’s Piano Pieces, Op. 72, as well as works that are the cornerstone of piano solo repertoire, such as Liszt’s “Dante Sonata.” The program marks Liszt’s 215th birthday and Tchaikovsky’s 185th, offering a fresh perspective on two composers whose musical worlds intersect during the Romantic period.

Osip Nikiforov is a fiscal year 2026 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
