Our Center Working to establish and maintain a safe, empowering, and supportive Center that addresses advocacy, education and services for the LGBTQ+ community.

It started as a dream in 2009, when the need for a safe, empowering and supportive LGBTQ+ community center was identified, and an action plan to create one was formed by a small group of individuals in northern Nevada. Since then, countless volunteer hours and monetary donations have been donated by a multitude of extraordinarily generous individuals and businesses, now bringing this dream to frui

tion in April 2016. Our mission is to maintain a safe, empowering, and supportive center for the LGBTQ+ community and allies that addresses advocacy, education, and services. We seek to build, connect, and strengthen the LGBTQ+ community through community building, arts and culture programming, and inclusive activities. Our Center is a 501(C)(3) nonprofit that relies solely on the support of private donations and the generosity of individuals, businesses and foundations.

We have loved all of our offerings this month for our Artful PRIDE series. We have a wonderful culminating exhibition showcasing the incredible artwork created throughout the month.

Make sure to come check it out this Saturday from 6:30-8:30pm at the center. There will be adult libations and tasty treats available (refreshments are absolutely essential for any art gallery exhibition).

Can you believe that it is the end of June? And though PRIDE month will officially be over, PRIDE is something that we carry and practice everyday.

We have some awesome events to close out the month including a few more Lunch and Learns and a Culminating Exhibition for all of our Artful PRIDE events.

Thank you to everyone who came out and support Our Center this month. Your presence is a gift and in the isolating times we find ourselves in, it is always powerful to gather; gather for strength, for connection, and for resilience.

In observance of Juneteenth, Our Center will be closed on Friday, June 19.

Juneteenth marks the day when news of emancipation finally reached enslaved people in Texas more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. It is a celebration of Black freedom, resilience, culture, and community, while also inviting reflection on the work that remains to build a more just and equitable world.

We honor the significance of this day and invite us to spend time learning, celebrating, and supporting Black-led organizations and initiatives.

We will resume normal business hours on Monday.

Missed your chance at submitting a postcard? We're now accepting new postcards to display during our exhibition at Our Center at the end of June!

You can come pick up your supplies at Our Center during normal business hours and drop off your completed postcards during the same times!

Postcards From the Edge (of Nevada) asks artists to illustrate, draw, collage, etc. on the front of one postcard and write a message of support to the q***r community on the back of another.

We'll be accepting them on a rolling basis, and we can't wait to see your submissions!
