Northern Nevada Brown Berets We are an Autonomous Brown Beret Chapter located in Northern Nevada. We stand for the people. We are thier voice when they feel they have none.

We demand equality and fairness for our gente. We strive to bring our youth from the streets and educate them. The Brown Berets are comprised of Raza of all ages that are committed to the founding principles and ideals of the Chicano Movement. We have a military structure that allows us to have the discipline necessary to organize, mobilize and protect our communities throughout Aztlan. We are com

mitted to self defense and we will protect our Raza and ourselves at all costs. The Brown Berets are dedicated to preserving the past, protecting the present, and creating a future throughout the barrios of Aztlan. We are not bound by borders nor are we limited by political ideology. We are a grassroots organization in its truest form and refuse to be constrained and categorized by the title of a non-profit organization nor shall we compromise our independence from any outside influence. We welcome all individuals regardless of race or gender to participate with us in our mission; however the Brown Berets historically have been a Chicano Nationalist Organization and shall continue to stay true to their original founding principles. TO SERVE our people in every way possible. TO OBSERVE the conditions in our barrios and organize for appropriate action to address such conditions. TO PROTECT the rights of our people against any intrusions upon their rights and freedoms by agencies, organizations, or individuals.

If you're thinking about wanting join the Brown Berets, then make sure you're ready for the lifestyle. This is no trend and we are not a cause just because it is the "thing" right now. This chapter specifically will not immediately swear in members. There is a process. While Vee Loca Ramirez started this chapter, there have been changes and in her honor we cannot and will not be a popularity choice. We will not be used as a temporary front for someone to be relevant concerning La Causa. This is an everyday life. Injustice is everyday. Not just when it's trending. Consider this when you consider us. If you abandoned us when it mattered then what makes the brown berets think you will be there when it isn't publicized.
