Laika Press Laika Press is a cooperative printmaking space located at 136 Vesta Street. Laika Press was founded by a group of friends who shared a passion in printmaking.

We focus on education and increasing the accessibility of printmaking for artists of all ages in hopes of fostering a more connected printmaking community in Reno, Nevada. On December 15, 2017, Laika Press opened its doors, relocating in 2022 to 136 Vesta St., offering a space where the Reno community can come to learn and practice printmaking. ☀️ FREE Studio Day this Saturday at Laika Press! Drop in any time from 11-4 to work on your printmaking projects.

The etching press will be available for relief and intaglio. Drypoint and linocut tools and ink will be available to use, and some paper off-cuts.

Bring your own paper and blocks or plates if you have them!

*This is not a workshop, a volunteer will be present to orient attendees in the space*

Join us to learn Coptic Bookbinding with Argyle this Friday in this exciting evening workshop.

Level up your bookbinding skills and learn how to bind multiple signatures with a hard cover, creating your own sketchbook or journal. All supplies provided, feel free to bring any fun papers or collage materials you would like to use! Open to all experience levels, recommended for those who have tried bookbinding before.

Join us this Sunday for an introduction to multi-color screen printing! Registration link in bio 💙

Laika instructor/screen printing whiz Matthew will demonstrate image setup, registration on the press, and flash curing to get you ready to print your own multi-color bandanas in this hands-on workshop. You’ll gain the skills and confidence you need to tackle your own multi-layer projects, adding on to skills built in our Screen Print 101! There’s no official prerequisite but screen printing experience (from one of our workshops or elsewhere) is recommended. 🌷 Completion of this workshop in addition to a Screen Print 101 training qualifies attendees to book screen printing time at Laika Press for individual projects.

This weekend at Laika Press! ⭐️ Reduction Relief with Aiyana Graham aiyana - level up your relief printing skills!

There are lots of ways to print with multiple colors in one image, but Reduction is one of the most dynamic and fun, and wastes minimal material as you carve and print all your layers from the same block. Learn the whole process and get some pro tips from local artist Aiyana, and plan, carve, and print your own mini edition on our press or by hand in this 4 hour workshop.

Some experience in relief (e.g. linocut, block printing, or stamp carving) is recommended, but not required.

Completion of this workshop qualifies attendees to schedule studio time at Laika Press.

🗣️ Everyone’s saying it’s Intaglio Summer…
BUT WHAT DOES THAT MEAN????
Intaglio is a family of printmaking techniques where an image is incised into a flat surface, ink is deposited into the lines, and pressure is applied to transfer ink to paper. 🤓 It’s hard to explain in words, but it creates beautiful results! Want to see how it’s done and try it out for yourself?

Get started this SATURDAY with Intro to Drypoint! Learn the basics and print your own acrylic or upcycled plastic plate on our full sized press. All tools and materials are included, no experience needed! $30 for 4 hours.

Then, join us July 22+23 for an introduction to copper plate etching! This more advanced technique uses acid to eat away at smooth copper to create a printable image. Drypoint experience recommended but open to all experience levels. Just $55 for 2 days of instruction including all supplies.

Completion of either or both of these workshops qualifies attendees to book studio time and use our resources at Laika Press, Reno’s community printmaking space.

Our 2026 workshop series is made possible in part by a grant from the Reno Arts and Culture Commission.

Missed out on doing the stamp rally at Mini-Mart? We will have our hands-on stamping demo station set up at the Downtown Library this afternoon 3-5PM during the reception for ENOUGH. 🌱

This little activity is a great demonstration of the concept behind relief printing and shows how multi-layer printing and registration works! Many of the prints on view at the library use one or all of these elements on a bigger scale. Come learn more and meet the artists today!
