The coalition was formed in January 2015 after marriage equality came to the State of Nevada in October 2014 to be a resource to the community and a positive influence in the ongoing effort to bring social and religious equality to the LGBTQ community. Our goals are:
To educate the community on the importance of and need for LGBTQ equality and inclusion in spiritual and religious matters;
To reach
out to government, educators, media, advocates, allies, and activists in order to promote our mission and expand our efforts statewide and nationally;
To participate in and plan community events in accordance with our mission;
To be a partner and resource to other LGBT and LGBTQ-friendly organizations and businesses throughout Nevada;
To provide a list of places of worship in Nevada who welcome and affirm LGBTQ persons;
To provide a list of places of worship and independent ordained clergy members in Nevada who joyfully perform the sacrament of marriage for committed LGBTQ couples;
To disseminate the information on welcoming and affirming congregations, ministers, and allied organizations and businesses to the LGBTQ and greater community via print, electronic, and other media. NiCE plans to develop a state-wide web site, with sections for each county, to which LGBTQ organizations around the state can provide the link. Coalition Core Group:
