Reno for the Advancement of Gender Equality

Reno for the Advancement of Gender Equality We're a feminist organization fighting to make Northern Nevada and the world at large more equal and more safe for all of its inhabitants.

04/05/2017

WANTED: Who are some inspirational feminists in the community you'd like to see interviewed for this upcoming event? Please send in your suggestions as soon as possible.

The Inspirational Feminist series is an ongoing series of public dialogues followed by audience Q&A’s meant to showcase and celebrate the efforts of feminists in our community. As writer and psychologist Andrew Solomon said, identity politics has two aspects - to give pride to those who have a certain condition or characteristic, and to change the world to be more kind and understanding to those with that condition or characteristic, and that while these spheres are separate, progress in either reverberates in the other.
We draw inspiration from the content of In the Company of Women by Grace Bonney in which Grace Bonney interviews successful business women, artists, and musicians and asks them questions ranging from “In moments of self doubt or adversity, how do you build yourself back up?” to “What is your no-fail go to for inspiration or to get out of a creative rut?”

This free show tomorrow, Friday January 6th at 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. features "national and local speakers, great musicians, and an opportunity to join a growing movement of resistance to all forms of oppression and all attacks on our environment. We must stand and oppose every Trump policy that hurts wildlife; poisons our air and water; destroys our climate; promotes racism, misogyny or homophobia; and marginalizes entire segments of our society."

From the Website:
http://www.biologicaldiversity.org/campaigns/earth2trump/index.html

"At each show, you can:
Sign the national Pledge of Resistance to Trump's dangerous agenda.
Write a personalized message that will be carried to D.C. inside a massive three-dimensional globe and delivered to Trump.

Create a huge, viral social media messaging campaign.

Connect with people in your community resisting oppression and find out how to join the million people who will protest in Washington, D.C., on Inauguration Day."
