Reno Little Theater

Reno Little Theater Exceptional theatrical experiences that inspire, entertain, and strengthen our community through art. Hug High School. Pueblo St. that was completed in 2012.

Reno Little Theater produced it first play, Three Cornered Moon, at the University of Nevada in 1935, making RLT Reno’s (and Nevada’s) oldest community theater, and one of the country’s oldest. In 1941, Reno Little Theater purchased Dania Hall, at Sierra and 7th Streets and, with community funding and volunteer labor, remodeled the building and finished the interior as its first theater. The build

ing served Reno Little Theater for over 50 years before being demolished to make room for a casino parking garage. Reno Little Theater was unhoused for a while and productions were performed at Procter R. Currently, Reno Little Theater performs in its 120 seat venue at 147 E. Reno Little Theater is a volunteer driven, non-profit organization. Donations are tax-deductible. We welcome volunteers in all areas of community theater.

There's something sacred about grabbing a drink with the people who worked the shift beside you. For Jason and Chris, the bar is where friendships are forged, stories are shared, and tomorrow's worries can wait. That is, until the work dries up and everything starts to change.

In "Sweat," a simple drink with friends becomes a reminder of what a job, a community, and a lifetime of shared history can mean.

Before life pulled them in different directions, Cynthia and Tracey shared laughs, dreams, and a friendship that felt unbreakable. In "Sweat," those bonds are tested as economic hardship and personal struggles reshape their world. Sometimes the deepest wounds come from the people who know us best.

Another lovely write-up about our production of "Sweat."

Another lovely write-up about our production of "Sweat."

"Sweat," Reno Little Theater's latest production, opens in 2008 with two men recently released from prison as they attempt to rebuild their lives. The story then jumps back to 2000, gradually revealing the events that led to their incarceration. The play, by Lynne Nottage, won the Pulitzer Prize for best drama in 2017.

Situated during the early aughts through the start of the Great Recession, workers at a local factory, while lifelong friends — including their children — are torn apart by downsizing and outsourcing. Previously united against the company as union workers, the employees begin to turn on one another as the battle against the company becomes increasingly futile.
