"This film was shot in June of 2024 at Popham Beach in Mid-coast Maine (USA), between low and high tide. In the winter of 2023, Popham Beach experienced terrible climate change related damage causing extreme shoreline change, damage to homes and buildings, and dune erosion. While the film is intrinsically linked to the changes that this land has seen, it is also exploring the human state of being between high and low points in our lives. That homeostasis place which exists as a place of balance between the best and worst moments we experience individually as humans."

Featuring "Nepenthe" by Jordan Chandler (UK)

"'Nepenthe' is a surreal dance film exploring how movement can reclaim memory. Told entirely through dance, the film follows two women drifting through memories frozen in time as they attempt to rewrite the emotional past from a place of empowerment. Moving between suspended domestic worlds, dreamlike forests and underground dance spaces, their journey transforms painful memories into spaces of connection, freedom and expression. Inspired by the mythical Greek remedy said to soften sorrow, Nepenthe explores dance as survival, release and reinvention, tracing how female friendship and chosen family can help reshape the stories that once defined us."

Featuring Pioneer Winter Collective (US)'s "Gimp Gait"

"This 'solo for two' captures a raw, site-specific exploration of interdependence. Operating without the aid of a power wheelchair, the two performers renegotiate balance, rhythm, and weight through strict physical labor and deep trust. The camera functions as both a witness and participant, framing micro-adjustments, missteps, and voice-over instruction as pure choreographic material. By directly confronting the viewer's gaze, 'Gimp Gait' reclaims a historical slur to showcase a fiercely honest display of individual power."

🎬 We screen short dance films (15 minutes max) that expand the evolving definitions of "dance" and "choreography," including films using animation, computer graphics, puppetry & beyond.

🎬 Your dance film can go on the road to screenings throughout New England; venues have included: Colby College (ME); Dean College (MA); Jamestown Arts Center (RI); Newport Art Museum (RI); Providence Public Library (RI); School for Contemporary Dance & Thought (MA); The Redfern Arts Center (NH); Trinity College (CT); Zeiterion Performing Arts Center (MA); & more.
