Thank you to all who made our July alumni gathering so special! 🙏

It was amazing to reconnect and see students spanning all the way back to our very first 2014 class. Everyone gathered because of the lasting impact Mindful Studies has had on their lives through and after high school. Many continue to practice today, and every single person shared a desire to be part of a community practice again—we are so excited to see where this leads!

Missed this one? Keep an eye out for future alumni offerings. We can't wait to practice with you soon! 💙

"My name is Allie Bewick and I’m a special education teacher at James John elementary. I learned of the Peace in Schools program only a few days after finding out I was pregnant with my second child. I was eager to join, knowing that my role as a joint learning specialist/social emotional skills class teacher would be especially challenging to navigate physically, mentally, and emotionally during pregnancy. After our first session, it became something that I looked forward to every month. Our classes helped keep me centered on what’s truly important while teaching me valuable tools to utilize throughout my job and personal life.

Our cohort became a treasured community of passionate educators willing to be vulnerable in our safe space. The practices and lessons from each session really helped me stay positive as I changed throughout pregnancy. I missed our 7th session during the birth of my baby, and I was so thrilled to join for our final session with my little Zoey. It was a blessing to be there with her to close out our program and say goodbye to such a beautiful community. I’m so thankful to have been able to participate in Peace in Schools, especially during such an intense transition period of my life."

To meet ourselves with compassion means making space for the heavy things; the pain, the anger, and the grief we experience in our lives and the world.

It's a gentle reminder that whatever we are feeling right now can be met with tenderness. 💙

Our Mindful Studies curriculum is designed to give teenagers the tools to do exactly what this student shared: to stop running from difficult emotions and start giving themselves the room to let them pass.

True resilience isn't about ignoring the hard stuff; it's about expanding our capacity to hold it all with compassion. How can you meet your own emotions with a little more tenderness today? 🌱
