📣Attention 📣: Literary Arts is now accepting applications for the 2027 Oregon Literary Fellowships. The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 7th!

In 2027, we will award up to thirteen fellowships of $4,000, two Career Fellowships of $10,000, and two Publisher Fellowships of $4,000. These are intended to help Oregon writers at all stages of their career initiate, develop, or complete literary projects. Fellowships are also awarded to Oregon’s indie publishers and small presses that demonstrate a commitment to literary publishing.

Have questions? We will be hosting three information sessions, the first of which will take place on Zoom on Thursday, June 25, from 4:00-5:00 p.m.

The Mendoza Cafe at Literary Arts turns one this weekend! ☕ ❤️

To celebrate our cafe-versary, our talented team gathered recipes from some of the best cookbooks sold at The Literary Arts Bookstore to create a line-up of delicious food and drink specials for you to enjoy.

These specials will only be available for a limited time — be sure to mark your calendar so you don’t miss out. Check out the list below: 👀

Week 1: A beet, apple, and tahini salad inspired by SOMETHING FROM NOTHING by Alison Roman

Week 2: A cucumber and fennel picnic salad inspired by SOMETHING FROM NOTHING  by Alison Roman

Mark your calendars: Portland Book Festival returns November 2-8, 2026! ☂️📚🏙️

We're excited to announce that Portland Book Festival has grown into a larger, multiday celebration centered around books and storytelling, in collaboration with some of Portland’s most beloved cultural partners.

Alongside more than 100 regional and national best-selling authors, the festival will also feature a variety of new programming, including live music, visual arts, culinary experiences, and late-night events.

Partnering with Oregon Symphony, Feast Portland, Revolution Hall, 45th Parallel Universe, Mississippi Studios, Portland Art Museum, and more, Portland Book Festival is designed to bring energy and connection to downtown Portland throughout the festival week.

Tickets to the Portland Book Festival will go on sale July 29 before the author lineup is announced, while some of our partner events are already on sale today.

Keep an eye out for regular updates! Participating authors and details about partner events will be announced on August 27, and the full festival schedule will be released in October.

Literary Arts is thrilled to announce that #1 New York Times bestselling author and host of Apple’s #1 rated podcast AGAINST THE RULES, Michael Lewis, will be joining us at the Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall on October 29, 2026!

Lewis will join us this fall to discuss his latest release, BLOCKERS, and will be joined in conversation by The New York Times editor-at-large David Shipley.
