Lastly, we are pleased to share that when a new chapter ends, a new one begins and with the winding down of the Women's Center for Leadership, we are able to make a contribution in support of Dress for Success Oregon.

To our community, after a yearlong review of our organization’s mission, programs, and finances, the Board of Directors has moved to close the Women’s Center for Leadership by October 31, 2022.

The Women’s Center for Leadership has served and supported the development of women in leadership throughout the Portland metro area for 22 years. Our programs and efforts have helped to advance gender equity and inclusivity in the workplace since our founding.

As we prepare to close our doors, we are looking to bring our community together one last time to do what we do best - network, make meaningful connections and celebrate our accomplishments.

Join us at NETWORK on August 24, 2022!

We’ll gather to appreciate all that the Women’s Center for Leadership has achieved and through the power of our vibrant community, we know these connections will continue into the future and we wish the best for each of you in your endeavors.

The Women’s Center for Leadership has a longstanding commitment to advancing gender equity and inclusivity in the workplace. The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v Wade negatively impacts women’s rights, creates inequities in the workplace, deepens the gender pay gap, and disrupts the advancement of women in our economy. We also recognize this decision disproportionately impacts women experiencing racial injustices, health and economic disparities, and barriers to education, training, and jobs.

Why Women's History?

Because our history is our strength.

By lifting up stories of women in history, we acknowledge and honor women today who are navigating an increasingly complex world.

From the National Women's History Alliance, "We gain a better understanding of other women’s lives, the challenges they faced, and ultimately, ourselves and our own times. Recognizing the dignity and accomplishments of women in our own families and those from other backgrounds leads to higher self-confidence and stronger communities.

We are drawn to strength and inspiration from those who came before us – and those remarkable women working today and making an impact."

Shauna shares, "WCL is in a unique position to serve current and future female leaders. I am excited to hear from and collaborate with our community and partners to determine how we share the training and knowledge WCL has to offer and work with them to implement our ideas."

is in the midst of planning for the future and as an all volunteer-led nonprofit is actively building volunteer committee and boards. Please do reach out if you are interested in learning more about WCL, making a contribution, or looking to volunteer. Reach out on the link in our bio.

Women's Center for Leadership is pleased to recognize with deep appreciation past Board Chair, Diane Paumier. We thank you for your leadership Diane and for helping advance gender equity and women's leadership development in Portland.

Diane is a long-time member of WCL and joined the board in 2016, serving as Board Chair from 2019 through 2021. She navigated WCL through the pandemic and under her leadership helped to grow our members and supporters. Her service on the board continues through the next few months and we are grateful for her generosity and commitment to women in leadership.

"WCL and its community of women and male allies have allowed me to enhance my commitment to DEI through self-development, leadership opportunities, and creative solutions. Building equity and inclusion in companies and providing leadership development training, programs, and mentoring for women is a priority for me. It's vital to our communities to support all women today in achieving their goals and to build a solid foundation to support the next generation. The energy of WCL's network, supporters, and volunteers in this endeavor is what inspires me about our future."

Diane is a Marketplace Operations Director at NIKE and shares that she’s grateful for the cross-functional experiences she has at Nike and balances that with time with friends & family, travel, volunteerism, and entrepreneurship. She is on her alma mater Kansas State’s Business School’s Advisory Council and an inaugural supporter of their Women in Business initiative.
