Stand for Children

Stand for Children Stand for Children is a unique catalyst for educational success and social progress, to create a brighter future for us all

We believe ALL children deserve an equal opportunity to succeed in life. Education is the key that unlocks the door to success. Far too many children, through no fault of their own, aren’t getting the education they need to make it in life. We are passionately committed to righting this wrong. We have more than a decade of experience working together with parents, communities and organizations as

partners. Together, we elect state legislators and local officials who will be champions for education. We deliver policy victories at the state level. And we follow through to ensure new policies are effectively implemented in public school classrooms. Stand for Children staff work state by state, community by community in order to make the biggest possible impact.

: Last week, during an Education Week live online event, a group of education leaders, including Jonathan Haidt and Dr. Adam Swinyard (Superintendent at Spokane Public Schools), met to discuss bell-to-bell, phone-free policies and how to effectively implement them. This comes shortly after Washington Governor Bob Ferguson shared his plans to prioritize a streamlined approach for away-for-the-day phone-free policies throughout the state.

Gratitude has a way of helping us see kindness more clearly.

At Farnhamville Elementary, students learn not just how to demonstrate kindness, but how to notice it.

Students helped create a “Thankful for Kindness” display filled with feather messages celebrating the people and moments that make their school special.

Through activities and lessons that build skills like compassion and thoughtful communication, kindness becomes something students can recognize in everyday moments.

Today feels like a good day to be thankful for that. 🤗

Tomorrow, opens in theaters as one of the first summer films K-12 students may see. Parents, educators, and even policymakers may have noticed something familiar in the previews that also appears in their classrooms: distractions from device screens. 📵

Did you see this week’s news? This week, Governor Ferguson and state Superintendent of Public Instruction Chris Reykdal proposed a state-wide “away for the day” policy which would require that requires students to have their cell phones off and away for the full duration of the school day.
