LIFT is our High Impact Tutoring Program that pairs local schools with university student tutors.

Emerging readers get the support they need, and future educators get hands-on practice. It's a win-win!

If you could be tutored in anything, what would it be? 📐 📖 🎶

We saw a need in our state, and we got to work. Swipe to learn more about our high-impact tutoring partnership, LIFT!

We’re excited to celebrate Mitzi Bauer as the first recipient of the Hὸa Nguyên Service Award.

A former school board member and dedicated community volunteer, Mitzi has shown what it means to stand up for kids — from her service in North Clackamas to her advocacy at the Capitol and her long-standing commitment to our work.

The award honors the legacy of Representative Hὸa Nguyên. She was a fierce champion for Oregon’s children, leading efforts to address chronic absenteeism and make sure every student has the support they need to show up and succeed.

Mitzi is a fitting honoree, and we’re grateful for her leadership, heart, and continued dedication to Oregon students.

A fantastic conversation about instructional time in Oregon with these dedicated professionals and public servants.

A few areas of shared understanding really stood out:

1.) Access to a high-quality public education is a civil right
2.) Increasing instructional time is good for children, educators, and families
3.) Oregon can do hard things

A special thanks to City Club of Portland for hosting and Betsy Hammond from the Oregonian for moderating.

This Friday we're joining City Club of Portland for a discussion around Oregon's short school day and year.

It's bound to be an engaging hour, with voices from the state legislature, district office and the classroom on the panel.

One thing that makes our work stand out is the connection from the capital to the classroom.

When we advocate for policies, we want to see them through and support educators in the implementation.

There is so much to reflect on after 30 years, and this week we had the opportunity to connect with some of the team members and supporters who make this work possible.

With your support, we will continue this work on behalf of Oregon's 550,000 public school students.

On June 1st, 1996, over 300,000 people rallied in DC for Stand for Children Day — the momentous event that inspired the founding of Stand for Children.

Over the last 3 decades, we've been a voice for children in Oregon's capitol, advocating for improved access to career technical education, research-aligned literacy instruction, and time in school.

What's your vision for the next 30 years? Let us know in the comments!

It's also a proper noun 🔍

Did you know it's national spelling bee week? Research-aligned spelling instruction involves phonics, phonemic awareness, and morphology!

We'll keep standing so children in Oregon can access strong literacy instruction, career and college pathways, and adequate instructional time.
