Lloyd EcoDistrict

Lloyd EcoDistrict We support efficient use of transportation, water, energy, and waste resources. We’re accomplishing great things in transportation, water, energy and waste.

We facilitate partnership between Lloyd businesses, nonprofits, governments and residents to create a neighborhood where people, planet, and prosperity are equally considered. In the inner Northeast Portland neighborhood known as the Lloyd, there’s an innovative, thriving coalition of businesses, residents and organizations that have come together with one audacious goal: to become the most sustai

nable living-and-working district in North America. We’re working to achieve that goal using a “triple bottom line” approach that emphasizes people, planet and profit in equal consideration. Our projects and policies all embrace this approach, because we know our success will ultimately be measured in all three areas. And we want every business case and public project to be both viable and replicable, so we can lead by example and others can learn from our efforts and our successes. We’re thrilled to announce the return of our Container Garden project for 2026! Lloyd EcoDistrict is expanding this initiative to reach even more residents and workers in the Lloyd area who want to grow their own fresh food, right from their balconies or patios.

Each kit includes a 3-gallon planter bucket, soil, and edible plants such as tomatoes, leafy greens, or herbs. You’ll pot your plant on-site at the Lloyd Center mall and take home your ready-to-grow garden. This is a great opportunity for Lloyd area renters, apartment dwellers, or anyone looking to start small with urban gardening.

If you're interested in receiving a free container garden, please fill out the form linked in our bio. Supplies are limited.

**Please keep in mind that you will be responsible for transporting your container garden from our office to your vehicle or residence. The containers are 3-gallon buckets and weigh approximately 15-20 lbs when filled with soil.**

It has taken us a couple of weeks to fully take this one in. Model the Way 2026 was our largest yet. We sold out the room and welcomed over 200 people! It felt full in numbers, energy, connection, and purpose.

For our eighth annual awards, we came together to recognize people doing the unseen, steady work that shapes our neighborhood. A major highlight was intentionally bringing the broader Lloyd ecosystem together. Lloyd EcoDistrict, Lloyd ESD, , and each play a role, but we share one goal: a neighborhood that works for everyone.

Congratulations to our incredible 2026 Award Winners:
- Bedrock Award: Nancy Reimer (Oregon Convention Center)
- Game Changer Award: Ground Score
- Collaborator Award: A three-way tie between Jill Spencer (Holladay Park Plaza), Jaimie Robins (Right 2 Dream Too), and Liuda Serohina (Go Lloyd)
- Daredevil Award: Black Men in Training

To every nominee, thank you. Recognition from your community carries weight, and it is well deserved.

The evening was perfectly grounded and celebratory, thanks to the humor and presence of Poison Waters and the beautiful space at AVENUE. We are deeply grateful to our partners who made this possible:
- Champion Sponsors: AVENUE, Genentech, Urban Renaissance Group
-Advocate Sponsors: GBD, American Assets Trust
-Supporter Sponsors: Dennis 7 Dees, Portland Trail Blazers, Postal Annex

Because of your collective support, we are just under our $45,000 fundraising goal! If you feel moved to support this work, we would be incredibly grateful.

We are so excited to invite you to the Keaton Otis Memorial Art Parklet Unveiling!

Justice for Keaton Oits - , which Lloyd EcoDistrict is part of, has been hard at work this past year with phase 2 of the memorial art installation in honor of Keaton Otis and his father, Fred Bryant.

More about the Memorial Art Parklet:
Built by a studio class at Benson High School – Keaton’s high school, this parklet features original artwork by Oregon-based artist and Portland-based artist . The wicking planters are created and planted by Matt G from .

We are very excited to share more about this work at our next gathering on Oct 12, 2025, 5-8 PM, on-site at NE 6th and Halsey or online via our livestream on the Justice for Keaton Otis page – facebook.com/JusticeForKeatonOtis

For those who can attend in person, there will be delicious food, speakers, performances, and family-friendly activities for children. We will have canopies in case of rain, and we will be masked to protect our most marginalized communities.
