Lloyd EcoDistrict

Lloyd EcoDistrict We support efficient use of transportation, water, energy, and waste resources. We’re accomplishing great things in transportation, water, energy and waste.

We facilitate partnership between Lloyd businesses, nonprofits, governments and residents to create a neighborhood where people, planet, and prosperity are equally considered. In the inner Northeast Portland neighborhood known as the Lloyd, there’s an innovative, thriving coalition of businesses, residents and organizations that have come together with one audacious goal: to become the most sustai

nable living-and-working district in North America. We’re working to achieve that goal using a “triple bottom line” approach that emphasizes people, planet and profit in equal consideration. Our projects and policies all embrace this approach, because we know our success will ultimately be measured in all three areas. And we want every business case and public project to be both viable and replicable, so we can lead by example and others can learn from our efforts and our successes. ⚠️🚷 Duckworth Dock / Lloyd Live at the Dock Update ⚠️🚷

We’re sad to share that there have been potentially harmful algae bloom sightings near Duckworth Dock today. While we wait for official confirmation from the Oregon Health Authority, out of an abundance of caution for both people and pets, we are canceling our this Wednesday's Lloyd Live at the Dock event at Duckworth Dock.

Harmful algae can make people sick and is especially dangerous for dogs. Please avoid contact with affected areas until conditions improve.

If you want to learn more about the issue and how it impacts the Willamette River, we encourage you to follow Human Access Project, who are leading the fight to solve this recurring problem. Give them a follow at Human Access Project.

Stay safe out there, and we’ll see you back at Duckworth when it’s safe to swim again. 💙

The tour will end at Duckworth Dock for Lloyd Live: At the Dock, where you can enjoy the sunset on the river and a live DJ set with PopCartPDX.

As Oregon’s first and only certified EcoDistrict / Just Growth community, Lloyd is setting the standard for collaborative, holistic development. We’re on a mission to transform Lloyd into one of the most sustainable neighborhoods in North America, championing equity, resilience, and climate protection. We’ve got lots more work to do, but we’re excited to share updates and progress!

But what exactly is an EcoDistrict? Hop on your bike and join us for an engaging ride through Lloyd, where we’ll explore how we’re turning EcoDistrict concepts into real-world innovations. Along the way, you’ll see the nation’s first pollinator bike corridor, cutting-edge water treatment systems, sustainable buildings, resilience infrastructure, vibrant murals, important memorials, redesigned parks, community gardening projects, and learn about behind-the-scenes programs that the EcoDistrict runs.

We’ll meet at 5:15 PM in the middle of Holladay Park, and begin our ride at 5:25. We’ll end the ride around 6:45 PM at Duckworth Dock for Lloyd Live: At the Dock.

We’re bringing the life back to one of Lloyd’s most colorful community landmarks this weekend, and you’re invited!

Join Lloyd EcoDistrict, artists, and neighbors for the Lloyd Intersection Mural Repainting & Play Street as we repaint the vibrant street mural at NE 2nd & Clackamas.

While we do some prep work on Saturday, this Sunday, July 12 is our main community volunteer and celebration day from 9 AM to 2 PM, complete with:
- Mural painting (all skill levels welcome; sign up for a shift here!)
- Music
- Free treats
- Family-friendly activities and games

🎨 About the Mural
The Lloyd Intersection Mural was originally painted in 2017 with artists Jon Stommel & Travis Czekalski of Rather Severe and supported by City Repair, Color Outside the Lines, and dozens of community volunteers. It’s been refreshed in 2019 and 2022, and with your help, we’ll keep this swirling burst of color alive and evolving!

🌟 Volunteer Info
We’ll offer optional 2-hour shifts on each day, but folks are welcome to stay longer or drop in for a bit!

RSVP for a painting shift in the form linked in our bio.

All painting supplies provided. Just bring your enthusiasm (and clothes you don’t mind getting paint on)!

Help us care for our community this summer. Join Lloyd EcoDistrict and SOLVE for a series of neighborhood cleanups.

Whether you live nearby, work in the area, or simply appreciate our city, your time makes a tangible difference. We will be picking up trash, sprucing up the landscaping, and removing graffiti around Peace Memorial Park, the Eastbank Esplanade, and the Moda Center.

Why it matters: Peace Memorial Park is a vital connection between the Lloyd neighborhood and the Willamette River, serving thousands of cyclists and pedestrians daily. It's the third most biked spot in the city! Beyond its everyday utility, the park was established as a public space to honor victims of war. Volunteering here helps preserve a place of reflection and ensures this tribute to peace remains welcoming and respected for everyone who passes through.
