Children's Healing Art Project (CHAP) is a Portland (Oregon) nonprofit that brings the healing power of art to children and families facing medical challenges. Since 2006, CHAP has been rolling our colorful carts full of art supplies into the playrooms and waiting rooms of area hospitals for children and families to enjoy during otherwise difficult, stressful, and often lonely times. During the C

OVID-19 pandemic, CHAP quickly shifted to providing free packs of art supplies to local hospitals for medical staff to share with children - since we are unable to currently visit the in person. CHAP now also provides Art Tutorials on all our social media platforms for everyone to enjoy, free Zoom Art Clubs for children facing medical challenges, and sends free CHAP in a Box shipments of art supplies to families we've previously met through our in-hospital programs.

April 2nd kicks off World Autism Awareness Day!

There are many ways to participate!

*Wear Blue & Decorate: Join the "Light It Up Blue" initiative by wearing blue clothing, ribbons, or using blue lights at home or work to show support.

*Support & Amplify Voices: Follow, listen to, and share content from autistic creators.

*Advocacy & Education: Read books, watch documentaries, and attend webinars to understand autism better.

*Donate or Fundraise: Support autism advocacy organizations.

*Create Inclusive Environments: Support businesses that offer sensory-friendly hours or advocate for autism-friendly signage in public spaces.

*Community Events: Participate in local autism walks, runs, or virtual fundraisers.

Hello Community,

We are excited to share that we are expanding our Art Club programs and welcoming new families into our creative space.

We are looking for volunteers to support the children in the studio during Art Club. We are also welcoming families with children facing medical challenges into our community. Art Club is a space for creative, messy, and joyful art experiences where kids can express themselves freely.

Weekly Art Club times:
Thursday: 12 pm to 2 pm
Starting January 24: Saturday: 10 am to 12 pm
