Ever seen someone commenting online that Lloyd Center Ice Rink isn’t for “real” competitive skaters? Clearly they don’t know about our very own Selina Fong and Coach Alec Schmitt.

These two competed at the ISU International Adult Figure Skating Competition in Oberstdorf, Germany and showed the WORLD what Portland can do. Selina competed in Adult Gold Free Skate, and Alec competed in (and WON 🥇) Masters Elite Pairs Artistic and Free Skate.

We are so proud to have them represent our rink and our city in such a positive light. Losing this rink doesn’t just mean losing a place for recreational skaters and tourists, it means the displacement of serious, elite athletes, too. ⛸️🌲
