NAMI Oregon

NAMI Oregon The mission of NAMI Oregon is to improve the quality of life for people living with mental illness, and their families and loved ones.

If you or a loved one need help, please call us at (503) 230-8009. NAMI Oregon is an independent, Grassroots organization, one of 50 state organizations that comprise the National Alliance on Mental Illness. Our mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals living with mental illness and for their families and other loved ones through education, support, and advocacy. We offer programs

through our 16 local chapters across Oregon, both in person and online via Zoom. Feel less alone by engaging in our free:

Classes
Support groups
Workshops and presentations for community groups, schools, businesses, etc. We also shape statewide and local public policies that affect mental health services. We do this by sharing our personal experiences with government officials and community care providers in the hopes of helping them understand what it’s like to be a person with mental illness navigating these systems of care. Don’t know where to start? We answer questions about mental health resources available to you via phone at 503-230-8009 or email at [email protected]. Neither of these contact options should be used in cases of emergency. Visit our “get help now” page at https://namior.org/get-help-now/ for crisis resources.

We’ve got a full day of activities planned to help you connect, recharge, get creative, and have fun with the community. From yoga with Firelight Yoga, to our Community Mural hosted by Uplift Teams, to Emotional Support Chickens, plant potting, therapy animals, tarot readings, live music from Reel2Real, and so much more — there’s truly something for everyone.

Whether you spend the day walking the route, relaxing in the park, visiting the resource fair, or hanging out with baby goats (honestly, valid), we can’t wait to celebrate mental health and community with you.

We’re not saying the therapy animals are the stars of NAMIWalks Northwest… but they might be pretty close.

This year, we’re excited to welcome back an adorable lineup of animal friends to Walk Day, including Radio the Therapy Dog, llamas and alpacas from Mtn Therapy Llamas and Alpacas, baby goats from Portland Goat Parties, and Portland's fluffiest celebrities, Tiny Dancer and Elmo the mini horses!

You’ll be able to spot them throughout the park all day long, and the goat pen will be right in the heart of the event for maximum serotonin.

And of course, your own furry friends are welcome too! Just make sure all pets are leashed so we can keep Walk Day safe, comfortable, and fun for everyone.

May 3–9, 2026, marks the 9th Annual Tardive Dyskinesia Awareness Week.

This week is dedicated to raising awareness about Tardive Dyskinesia (TD)—a serious and often misunderstood movement disorder that can result from certain medications used to treat mental health conditions.

This week serves as an opportunity to educate our communities, support those living with TD, and encourage conversations about treatment, symptom recognition, and overall wellness. Increased awareness helps create more informed and compassionate care for those affected.

If you or someone you love may be experiencing symptoms, don’t hesitate to talk to a healthcare provider. You are not alone.

This holiday season, we are filled with gratitude for your generosity and partnership. Because of you, NAMI Oregon reached 15,000 individuals in 2025, helping families navigate mental health challenges, access vital resources, and connect with a supportive peer-led community that understands them.

Your support has strengthened families, built connections, and created spaces where people feel seen, heard, and understood. From peer-led support groups to the Resource Helpline and our welcoming Resource Café, your generosity has touched lives across Oregon.

As we look to 2026, we’re excited to continue expanding access to mental health resources, deepening our impact, and ensuring that every individual and family, whether in Portland or rural Oregon, can find peer guidance and support when they need it most.

Thank you for being an essential part of this journey. Wishing you and your loved ones a joyful holiday season filled with warmth, connection, and hope.
