The Oregon Child & Family Center for Excellence is thrilled to announce that we are a 2025 grant recipient by the
Oregon Community Foundation!

The Center for Excellence is grateful to be recognized by the Ann J. and Williams Swindells Fund of Oregon Community Foundation this year for its hard work in serving children, youth, and families throughout Oregon.

Since 1973, Oregon Community Foundation has worked to improve the lives of all Oregonians through the power of philanthropy. In 2024, OCF distributed more than $211 million in grants and scholarships in every county in Oregon in partnership with donors and volunteers. Individuals, families, businesses and organizations can work with OCF to create charitable funds to support causes important to them.

THANK YOU so much again to the Oregon Community Foundation for our inclusion in the 2025 Oregon Community Foundation grants!

After an incredible training last month with Martin Lockett from Lines for Life, we are excited to announce our upcoming trainings with Martin for 2026!

- "Culturally Responsive Su***de Prevention" on January 8 is another virtual training by Martin Lockett that infuses culture and diversity throughout a foundational workshop on su***de prevention.

- "Motivational Interviewing for Youth from Marginalized Communities" on February 4 incorporates the client-center counseling approach of Motivational Interviewing (MI) with Martin Lockett's personal story of lived experience with addiction and the criminal system, which prompted him to create this version of MI. This training will be held in-person in the Portland metropolitan area, although the specific location is TBA.

Both of these pilot training series will be highly interactive, incorporating real-world scenarios, role plays, and opportunities for reflection and feedback.

It is with exceptional pride that we'd like to highlight our recent trip to Zagreb, Croatia where we attended this year's EUSARF conference! The EUSARF conference is an amazing opportunity to share insights and advancements in research, practices, and policies for children and social work. We were thrilled to have our CEO Vera Stoulil represent the Center for Excellence alongside our friends at ACRC; our (pictured) co-presenters included Bob Lieberman, Charley Downing, Nancy Pierce, and many more incredible folks in our field.

We are beyond grateful to have been given this opportunity to be a part of this international conference as well as enjoying the sights of beautiful Croatia. Stay tuned for more updates and photos to come!

Doug Smith is returning with another iteration of his Emotional Attachment Behavioral Therapy (EABT) model with "Emotional Attachment Behavioral Therapy for Helping Professionals" on October 7, 2025.

This training invites participants to reflect on how their personal attachment patterns may influence their work with clients, their relationships with colleagues, and their ability to care for themselves.
