One of the oldest and most-cherished conservation organizations in Oregon, the Association of Northwest Steelheaders was founded in 1960. The Association currently has 1,200 active members and 11 chapters in Oregon and Washington.

🎣 Sharing the Columbia — More than 22 Oregon and Washington legislators and policy staff joined us for our 4th Annual Columbia River Fishing Day to experience firsthand the importance of the river to anglers, communities, and the region.
🧹 Giving back to the Clackamas — NW Steelheaders members joined 161 volunteers to remove nearly 3,000 pounds of garbage and recycling from 22 miles of the Clackamas River and Clackamette Cove.

The cost of river sea lion removal will drop and the number euthanized will drop if the chunked up ones doing all the Salmon eating are cut off from recruiting more sea lions inland. I talked with Association of Northwest Steelheaders about the impact sea lion recruitment has on fish populations in SW Washington.

Incredibly proud of our long time partnership with Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and National Wildlife Federation - Oregon and Eco-Schools U.S. to bring the salmon life cycle into classrooms across Oregon.

Our members are looking forward to another record breaking egg delivery day next month! We'll be sending out information for how to participate as a volunteer in the next week.

We cannot protect salmon and steelhead if the law stops recognizing destruction of their habitat as harm.

Clean, cold water. Healthy spawning gravel. Intact streambanks. Functioning floodplains. Safe migration corridors. These are not optional pieces of the salmon life cycle—they are the foundation that makes healthy and abundant fish populations possible.

That is why the Association of Northwest Steelheaders has joined a coalition of conservation organizations challenging the complete removal of habitat protections under the Endangered Species Act (ESA).

The Association of Northwest Steelheaders is proud to stand alongside the SELC, National Wildlife Federation, and our conservation partners in this effort including Conservation Council for Hawai'i South Carolina Wildlife Federation, North Carolina Wildlife Federation, and Florida Wildlife Federation.
