For 20 years, Spiritual Emphasis has brought the Adult & Teen Challenge PacWest family together through worship, prayer, fellowship, and the movement of the Holy Spirit.

In this special 20th Anniversary celebration, Chris Hodges, CEO & President of Adult & Teen Challenge PacWest, reflects on how God first placed the vision for Spiritual Emphasis on his heart more than 21 years ago.

After seeking God alongside his father, Mike Hodges, Chris recalls receiving a simple but powerful word: “You need to do this too.”

That moment began a 20-year journey of unity, breakthrough, calling, and transformation.

As we celebrate all God has done, we give Him all the glory for His faithfulness.

20 years later, the story continues.

On the final day of Spiritual Emphasis, we gathered around the pool to celebrate baptisms! Baptism is a public confession of faith in Jesus and a powerful picture of the transformation He brings. Many of our students, along with some staff and students’ children, took this step of faith and were baptized.

It was such a powerful reminder that the old life has passed away and a new life has been found in Jesus. We are so blessed to celebrate these decisions for Christ together as a region! What a joy to witness God continuing to move in the lives of our students, families, and staff. ❤️

Day 3 of Spiritual Emphasis! 🙌

Our final full day of Spiritual Emphasis was filled with some truly special moments! From baptisms and an encouraging word from our CEO, Chris Hodges, to ending the night with a fun talent show, it was a day we won’t soon forget.

We had the incredible joy of celebrating as many of our students took the next step in their faith and were baptized. We even had some parents baptize their own children, making these moments even more special. What a beautiful picture of God’s work in the lives of our students and their families!

Chris Hodges also shared an encouraging word with our region, taking us on a journey through the history of Spiritual Emphasis as we celebrated its 20th year! It was a special opportunity to look back at all God has done through these years and remember the many lives He has touched along the way. As we reflected on the past, we were also encouraged to look ahead and continue walking boldly in all that God has for us.

What a powerful day of celebrating new life, growing in faith, and being reminded of what God is doing through Adult & Teen Challenge PacWest!

Day 2 of Spiritual Emphasis! 🎉

Day 2 was a special day as we celebrated the graduation of many of our students! We were honored to celebrate their hard work, growth, and success throughout the program. We are so proud of each one and excited for all that God has ahead for them!

Our keynote speaker, Phil Hills, Director of UK Teen Challenge, made it all the way from England to camp despite having his flights canceled. It was a miracle he arrived in time! Phil encouraged us through the story of Joshua and God’s command to be strong and courageous.

We were challenged to walk in obedience to God, step out in faith, and boldly follow where He leads. It was an encouraging reminder that God has given us everything we need to live boldly for Him!

The day was also filled with plenty of fun, including wiffle ball, time at the pool, and fellowship around camp. We ended the day with a volleyball tournament, where our Portland Men’s Campus took home the win! 🏐

What a full and joyful day of celebrating, growing, fellowshipping, and being reminded to Be Bold in our faith!

Before Spiritual Emphasis Camp, we welcomed our interns a couple of days early for a special time of encouragement, professional development, and team building.

Dan Williams, our Teen Challenge Ministry Institute Director (TCMI), led the group through personality testing and later challenged them to a fun team-building activity: building a pasta tower using only marshmallows, tape, and pasta! It was a fun way to learn how to work together, communicate, and encourage one another.

Overall, the TCMI Intensive was an impactful time filled with worship, fellowship, learning, and encouragement. We were grateful for the opportunity to invest in our interns before the rest of the students and staff arrived for Spiritual Emphasis 2026!

Day 1 of Spiritual Emphasis!

Once a year, our region comes together for four days as students and staff from across our campuses gather to fellowship, worship, and encourage one another. Today was just the beginning of a powerful weekend!

We kicked things off with a worship night led by Zory, our Portland Men’s Campus Director. It has been such a joy to see friends reunited from across our campuses and to worship together as one region.

We are so encouraged by what God is doing in the lives of our students, staff, and campuses, and we can’t wait to see what He continues to do throughout this weekend. 🙌
