The Wetlands Conservancy

The Wetlands Conservancy We are the voice of Oregon's wetlands. We protect, preserve and restore wetlands throughout the state.

Wetlands are vital to our community’s health and the health of our environment. They clean and recharge our water supply, provide critical fish and wildlife habitat, and protect our communities from floods. Today The Wetlands Conservancy owns and manages 32 preserves and more than 1,500 acres across Oregon.

In some regions of the state, the percentage of wetlands lost is closer to 75%. Losing more simply isn't an option.

With the support of Oregonians. TWC has protected more than 1,500 acres of wetlands stretching from the metropolitan area to the southern Oregon Coast. Every acre restored and conserved means a stronger, more resilient future for us all.

Summertime ... and the giving back is easy.

Join The Wetlands Conservancy and the Milwaukie Parks Foundation on Saturday, June 13th, for the cleanup Minthorn Wetland from 9:30-12 p.m. A celebration of the wetland will also be hosted at 11 a.m., featuring refreshments, a birding expert, an amazing wildlife photographer, an Indigenous bow maker, and a microscope enthusiast who will show what wiggles in the water. You there?

Healthy, thriving wetlands serve as natural firebreaks, helping to slow, and in some cases stop, the spread of wildfires. This year, Oregon’s wildfire season began two weeks earlier than usual and is expected to continue through October. Protecting our wetlands, and supporting the people and organizations that steward them, is an important way to strengthen our state’s resilience to increasing wildfire threats.
