Want to meet awesome people, learn more about trees, and make a positive impact on your urban forest? Friends of Trees Crew Leader Training is a great way to do all of that while building new tree skills and making a tangible difference in your neighborhood.

Every planting season, thousands of volunteers help plant trees across the Portland metro area, and Crew Leaders play an important role in creating a safe, welcoming environment where volunteers can learn, connect, and make a difference in their urban forest. Crew Leaders teach proper tree planting techniques, support volunteers throughout the day, and help ensure every planting event is fun, positive, and inclusive.

No experience is needed. After completing a short online training and one day of in-person training, you'll be paired with an experienced mentor for your first season, so you'll have plenty of support as you learn to lead volunteer planting crews. It's a fun way to make new friends, spend time outside, build leadership skills, and help grow a healthier urban forest. One tree at a time.

We have two Neighborhood trainings fall: October 17 in Gresham and October 24 in East Portland. Our Green Space training is October 10 in Tualatin. We'd love to have you join us!
