Scout had his second laser and acupuncture appointment with Becky Jester today and guess what- He can now wag his tail and move his back legs! He’s not walking yet, but he can hold a standing position for 5-10 seconds at a time and pull his legs forward from that position. He definitely is feeling more sensations along his spine and paws. He’s doing so well and gets his mass remove and dental in November. Way to go, buddy!

Urgently looking for a foster home for this senior mix. We think he’s 9-10 years, is neutered, but will likely need a dental. His people are moving into memory care this week and he needs somewhere to land. We don’t know how he is with other dogs and cats, as he has lived alone. He likes visitors and is fairly quiet, especially compare to a dachshund. He is around 22lbs. Can anyone local foster this boy so he doesn’t end up in a shelter?

Please join us in welcoming 3 year old Dixie to the rescue! She arrived yesterday and although initially nervous, she warmed up quickly once she met her foster Foster sisters, foster mom and got a new toy(scroll to the end to see her realize she is safe and can relax). This sweet girl is kid friendly (yay), and we will let our vet decide if she needs a dental before she is ready for adoption. Thank you to Patti for agreeing to foster her 🍭🎃🫶

UNSOLICITED ADVICE IS NOT NEEDED IN THIS DOG’S CASE. Please give a warm welcome to our next behavioral case, Ansel. He is a very large and long tweenie, who comes with some behavioral problems. We will work through them and also get him a neuter soon. We will continue to work to help these tougher cases as often as we are able to. It takes a village for a dog like this, and we are grateful to have the help of trainers. Welcome, Ansel. We will try to make your world better.

Please give a warm welcome to one year old dachshund mix Winnie! She is sweet, playful and might have some separation anxiety to work through. She is settling in well with foster mom Miss Teresa at Doxie Disneyland and loving it (who doesn’t)! This girl will need a vet visit for a few vaccines and lab work before she is ready for adoption. More on her soon! Welcome, Winnie!

Kona (left) had his dental yesterday and didn’t lose any teeth! He was great with the vet team and was sweet to them all. He did bark a little in the lobby, but has come a long way since he arrived thanks to trainer Natalie + Bear & Enzo work on his leash reactivity. This boy is a lover, and will make some family a wonderful dog, as long as his leash training and regimen are continued. Way to go, Kona! He is now ready for adoption and we expect him to go to a forever home soon!

Just some sleepy Monday sunbathing with current pups Lincoln, Pixel and Carlos (as well as with alumni Maple and Winston). Crossing our fingers for Lincoln and Pixel who have some great upcoming meet and greets!

We have started shooting our 2027 calendar and Chewie crashed our shoot yesterday and decided he should model. Happy Sunday, everyone!

Carlos update! This boy has come so far with a little socialization and some basic manners training. He absolutely can be around other dogs, and is appropriate around them. He sometimes snips at the dogs he knows aren’t as confident, but nothing like how he was attacking Norm. We’re chalking it up to something similar to littermate syndrome, except father and son. He had his dental and has lost some weight due to our long walks. We did start him Prozac, but could potentially be weaned after 3-6 months in his forever home. He totally fell in love with Dr Jester when he came to Scout’s laser and acupuncture session. He almost didn’t leave with us 🫶😄. Great work, Carlos!
