It’s dental day for our beautiful boy Trout! He came to us paralyzed and is now zooming around, even going up a step on his own. And no- that’s not a bad thing at this stage in his recovery. Most owners know not to let them jump and to use ramps, but this dog and all doxies should be building up muscle in their back to support their spine. He does also have juvenile cataracts that require daily drops, but he still has a decent amount of vision, and is one of the nicest dogs we’ve ever had- great with puppies, kids, dogs of all sizes, cats and all humans. Whomever adopts this boy is hitting the dachshund jackpot! Good luck today, Trout!

Radar is adopted! This meet and greet was joyful and maybe a few happy tears - Radar too to his new parents immediately, asking for affection and pets. His new sisters brought a lot of laughs and outtakes to the day, also. We can’t imagine a better home for this very deserving testing facility beagle. He will never want for love, security, or care again. Happy Tails, Radar! 🥹

Everyone please give a warm welcome to Violet and Teddy. They are around 9 months old and we were told they came from the same litter. We do think they are mixes, as there’s a hint of something else in their faces! They are sweet and a little shy, but warm up quickly. Teddy is neutered, but Violet will need a spay. We will evaluate then to see whether they are bonded or can be adopted separately. Welcome, pups!

Our little female (now named Millie) that arrived from the Washington/ Idaho border heads to our vet today for lab work and a rabies shot in preparation for a spay and possibly a dental. She’s doing so well in her foster home with her doxie sisters! She is relaxed and happy! We do think she’s a dachshund x Jack Russell cross possibly. She will be listed after her lab work is back and we have a surgery date. Way to go, Millie!

Today is neuter day for beagle Gus, so we thought we would give a little update. This guy enjoys other dogs, but is still learning boundaries (as in, please don’t sit on them when you want to cuddle)! His foster family has worked to safely and slowly socialize him, and he’s fine relatively well with strangers and even seeks out affection and pets from some of them. He is not yet potty trained, but the neuter should help. He doesn’t like to be alone, and likes to be near his humans or other dogs or he will howl. He has given us plenty of laugh-out-loud moments, but our favorite is drinking out of a guests water glass. Although we haven’t crated him or the beagles for obvious reasons, he decided he wanted to go into the crate of another dog’s in the home and take a nap. We love this sweet and playful boy.

Everyone please give a warm welcome to 9 year old Hercules! He arrived yesterday and is settling in to his foster mom’s house either her seniors. He is calm, gentle and very sweet! He will need lab work, vaccines, a dental and maybe some treatment for arthritis before he is ready for adoption. Welcome, little man!

Today we continue introducing our beagles one at a time, and next is Lucky. He is probably our most shut-down beagle from the Ridglan 5. He has made the couch his home base, but still remains very timid and fearful. His foster family has been wonderful, introducing him to a family relative who is a child he seemed to connect with, and also team member Amy has been bringing her dogs by for hang sessions. He does best with calm dogs who he feels he can approach. He definitely needs a dog companion, and quiet and gentle kids would also be great. He really has only liked his rope toy so far, but is starting to connect the dots about toys. He enjoys being outside and is doing surprising well on potty training. Thank you Melissa and Blake for being so patient with this gorgeous boy. He was neutered yesterday, along with Radar. Next week it will be Gus & Oliver’s turn! We are accepting applications for the beagles through our website.

Everyone please give a warm welcome to this little 3-4 year old lady to the rescue! A wonderful human named Kendra contacted us to let us know that there was a dachshund at the Washington/Idaho border that urgently needed saving. We were looking at flights at how we could react quickly, and she decided to drive her to us last night and we are so grateful! She hasn’t been around other dogs, it doesn’t seem, so her foster is going to go slow with her and see if we can get her acclimated. She will need a spay, vaccines, lab work and possibly a dental before she is ready for adoption. She is still to be named, but we welcome suggestions. Welcome, little lady!
