Our North America map just got another pin! 🗺️

Welcome to Clean Fairfax (), our newest US-based member.

Party Kit Network connects communities with reusable party tableware, so people can throw a great party without the single-use plastic. Plates, cups, cutlery, all shared to help keep waste out of landfill.

There are now over 40 members across North America. Every new community means more people can choose reuse.

Meet Jo and Jackie, the friends behind Darebin Party Kits in Melbourne 🎉

Their reuse story started with a Facebook group and a simple belief that perfectly good things shouldn't end up in landfill.

From their pop-up shops, they have diverted over 16 tonnes of waste, and now also run 10 party kits hosted across Preston, Thornbury, Northcote and Fairfield. They've made low-waste celebrating genuinely easy for their community.

In 2025 alone, their kits were borrowed 240 times. You can see why they have won the Party Kit Network Super Star Award two years running. 🌟🌟

Somewhere along the line we forgot something.

We forgot that humans have always shared. Tools, food, time, space. Long before the supermarket aisle told us that convenience meant single-use, and long before a multinational shipped us a pack of 50 plates we’d use for 5 minutes and never think about again.

Party kits offer a simple solution which isn't just better for the planet, but for the communities they support.

This is how is works...

🎉 Someone hosts a box of reusable tableware.
🎉 Someone having a party borrows it.
🎉 The box is then returned to be used again. That’s it.

But underneath that simplicity is something actually quite radical… the idea that our local connections still have value. That the person three streets away is worth knowing. That small acts add up to something real.

It won’t solve the waste crisis on its own. We’re not claiming that. But it is a small act of rebellion.

A way of saying that we’d rather share a plate between neighbours than fill another bin bag.

And, it's much better than a soggy paper plate. 🎉

For a quick party cake, a donut stack is a winner. Quick to create and easy to serve. 😋

We also took a few cupcakes for the kids who don’t like donuts.

Top tip: If you make a chocolate cake topper, don’t place it too close to the candles! 🫠😬🔥

Party kits are part of the growing sharing economy. By sharing things, rather than everyone buying their own, we can reduce waste.

Public libraries, tool libraries, library of things, toy libraries, sling and nappy libraries, even rental platforms… all of these support community sharing. Cutting waste, while also making items more accessible. 💚

How does it work?

Skip the disposable paper plates and plastic cups. Borrow reusable tableware from a party kit run by people in your community.

1. Find your nearest kit on our map
2. Book your date. (Prices vary - .some kits are free, some charge a small fee)
3. Arrange your handover
4. Have your party 🎉
5. Return the kit ready for the next celebration

Less waste. No box of plates gathering dust in your cupboard between birthdays. And your booking fee often goes straight back into your local community with many supporting group or non-profit.

🎉 There’s no one way to run a party kit - and that’s what makes our network so special!

Some are run by parents or community volunteers, others by schools, sharing libraries, eco groups or local councils.

Together they make it easy for people to borrow reusable tableware instead of buying single-use.

However they operate, each kit helps their community celebrate with less waste - and since 2020, our members have helped avoid over 1.3 million single-use items!
