332,742 single-use items avoided this year 🎉

Our annual member audit is in, and that’s the total our network kept out of the bin.

Thank you to the members who counted up their hires and sent in their numbers. We know how much goes into running a kit, and taking time for the audit on top of that means a lot. 🥰

This figure also belongs to everyone who borrowed a kit. Each reusable plate or cup you chose over a disposable one is in there. 💚

Since 2020, our members have now avoided over 1.6 million single-use items together.

This is my 6th birthday party. It's 1987 and Care Bears were very much in vogue.

Nearly 40 years later, the tableware from that party is still sitting in a landfill somewhere.

The paper from the plates may be close to gone by now. The plastic coating is still there, along with the plastic cups and straws, and those cups could last another 400 years.

Even then they won't disappear. Plastic breaks into smaller and smaller pieces that stay in our soil and water.

That's why I help hundreds of people around the world run party kits of reusable tableware. Birthdays and other milestones deserve celebrating. They bring people joy and bring them together. A party shouldn't leave behind waste that outlives everyone who was there.

Every year we run an annual audit to record how many single-use items our members have kept out of the bin. Added together, those figures show the impact of the whole network which is now over 1.6 million since 2020. The audit is also our chance to celebrate the members who make it happen.

⭐ Super Star Award 2026 ⭐

Ribbon Magic ✨

Your old ribbon collection is about to become party gold.

Transform hula hoops, create tassel bunting, build backdrops that actually last.

Better yet, you don’t need ribbons at all. Old t-shirts, scrap fabric and even old tents can work just as beautifully.

Durable, easy to pack away, and honestly way too pretty to use just once. 🎀

Earlier this week I shared the Party Kit Network story at a pre-conference event on reuse systems, hosted by a Canadian waste management association.

The other speakers were a Canadian company that repurposes EV batteries, a Slovakian department store where everything is preloved, and the founder of TerraCycle, who shared what they’ve learned from reusable packaging trials for grocery products.

It was a great event, and a glimpse of how much good work is happening around reuse.

(The time difference meant the session fell at teatime here in the UK, so I swapped offices with my husband. He then forgot and locked me out of the house. The cat was no help 😂)

We’ve all been there… after the party there’s just so many bin bags. 😱😳

Switching to reusable tableware is a simple way to cut down on waste. (And, if we’re honest, paper plates aren’t even that great!)

There are party kits all across the UK and beyond making it easier to borrow reusable tableware.

Come join us!

We’re currently running our annual audit. This is when we ask all our members to share the impact their party kit has had on waste and their community.

We count up the number of single-use items avoided by each kit. And this year we’re already up to 180,082 items! 🙌

If you’re a member, to take part please check your inbox or DM us for the link. Thank you 🤩
