At PDX Concierge, we strive to deliver more than just groceries. This Thanksgiving, we received a call from a 61-year-old disabled man, Hollif. Hollif was not only in need of food, but also was living alone and missing his 6-month-old puppy, Bubbles. He was recently hospitalized due to health conditions and as a result was unable to take care of Bubbles, who was taken to Multnomah County Animal Protection Services. Hollif doesn’t drive, lives on social security income, and had no way of picking up his puppy. After taking his call, we picked up Bubbles in Troutdale at the shelter and used our donations to buy Hollif free groceries.

This video shows the reuniting of Bubbles with his owner, Hollif. We are glad that Bubbles is home and Hollif had food on Thanksgiving.

Big thanks to The Hershey Company, Sodexo Foundation - STOP Hunger, and Youth Service America for the grants in funding Global Youth Service Day for PDX Concierge! This service weekend, we are continuing to deliver food and groceries to those in need.

Today marks one year since the launch of PDX Concierge! One year later, our team of 100 volunteers has completed over 500 deliveries across the Portland metro area, Salem, Eugene, and Roseburg. We are very grateful to keep our community safe and and plan to continue our efforts in the future.

At PDX Concierge, we have worked with Oregon Food Bank and 211info to help those who are facing food insecurity or have tested positive for the virus and unable to leave their homes. Pictured are volunteers Nathan and Isabella making a run to a local pantry to deliver food to a family who were unable to afford their groceries and tested positive for COVID-19, preventing them from getting to a food bank.

Happy Thanksgiving! We are very thankful for our amazing 40+ volunteers who put in the hard-work, commitment, and care to serve our community. We have been able to do 270+ deliveries! We hope everyone has a safe thanksgiving weekend.

Thank you to the PRM Foundation for the appreciation and $500 award! We really appreciate the recognition and are glad to be able to continue helping the community.

Congratulations to Neel Jain, a junior at Westview High School! Neel has been awarded a $500 Silent Servant Award from the Peter R. Marsh Foundation.

Neel created a local nonprofit called PDX Concierge. He and his friends shop for and deliver groceries to senior citizens who are unable to shop during the pandemic. Neel started by shopping for his own grandmother. “My grandmother has asthma, so I was helping her get her groceries, and I realized that there were probably a lot of other people who could use help.” Neel created a website and posted flyers around his neighborhood. To date, Neel and his 35+ volunteers have made 200 deliveries.

“Neel is an incredible student that never ceases to amaze me,” says Westview Principal Matt Pedersen. “He actually pushes our school to try to find ways to reach out and be servant leaders in our community.”

Thanks to Beaverton School District for the shoutout!

A Portland teen who started a free grocery delivery service during the COVID-19 pandemic recently expanded the service into Clark County.
