We're back with another yard transformation! This yard was due for some attention from our hard-working volunteers, and they really got the job done. Watch as the yard transforms, with garden beds and a big lawn, clearing a path for the homeowners to use as they choose. The difference is impressive!

If you enjoy our work, please consider leaving a donation or joining our volunteer force through our website!

Thank you for all the support as we move into another project filled summer!

Hey everyone,

It took a lot longer than expected due to unforeseen circumstances, but my website is finally live! Click the link in my bio to learn more about home energy assessments, the incentives you can access and how it benefits you as the homeowner, the process from the assessment to receiving a cash incentive for energy efficiency upgrades, and to schedule your own no-cost home energy assessment with me!

I truly appreciate your ongoing support!

We’re heading to Memphis, TN next month!

This incredible work we’ve been doing here in Portland, OR has gotten us highlighted in the Legacy Experience exhibit at the National Civil Rights Museum in the Lorraine Hotel.

To be recognized amongst some of the greatest civil rights leaders and movements throughout history is surreal, and couldn’t have happened without the consistent and impactful support we have gotten from our community, staff, and funders! The first two photos are what they selected for the “housing” section of the exhibit, and I’m elated that our partnership with is going to be a part of it.

The Legacy Experience exhibit opens to the public on May 16th. If you find yourself in Memphis that weekend or after, make sure to go check it out!

Happy Earth Day! 🌳 Today we recognize the importance of environmental protection, on a global and local level. Redlining and urban renewal has pushed communities into harmful environments that have impacted healthy living and housing. Here's some history of Portland's environment and why we work to create healthier and energy efficient homes for Black Portlanders!

We recently completed this full kitchen renovation and repair and we’re excited to share the story!

Years ago, when this homeowner bought their house, the kitchen wasn’t in great condition and eventually became completely inoperable. With grandchildren and family coming over, it has become increasingly important for the homeowner to have full use of the kitchen. We consider this an emergent need project as it helps to prevent more serious, expensive repairs in the future.

We fixed dry rot, replaced the flooring, built new cabinets and replaced all of the broken appliances and fixtures. In addition, we repaired some serious electrical and plumbing issues.

The result was a brand new kitchen, for the homeowner and the whole family to safely use and enjoy together. A big shoutout to our team and everyone who worked on this project! This work was done with the help of our SBCC (Sustainable Black Community Collaborative) partners, African American Alliance for Homeownership and Constructing Hope, funded by Meyer Memorial grant funding.

We are honored to do this work and be a part of a community who believes in the work we do. Thank you for your support!

We know that gentrification and predatory real estate practices have displaced Black small-business owners from their communities and costumers. Taking Ownership offers our third program, the Small-Business Program, to focus on supporting Black-owned small businesses to deter these practices and allow businesses to grow. We work with DevNW's Individual Development Account Program to help fund this program. Thank you for your support!
