💜 Thank you to everyone who attended Healthy Start Pittsburgh's 4th Annual Breast Friends Brunch this past Saturday! 💜

As we kick off Black Breastfeeding Week 2026 (August 25th to 31st), we're reminded that this year's theme, "We All We Got," reflects exactly what we celebrated together: the power of community, support, and village-building for Black families.

Here's to continuing the work of uplifting parents, babies, and communities all week long.

Today is Critical Needs Alert.

Today, your gift to Healthy Start helps support the work behind healthy beginnings:

Home visits. Fatherhood. Breastfeeding support. Doula care. Mental health services. Safe sleep education. Advocacy. Research. Coalition building. Community education. Families getting connected to care and support when it matters most.

In 2025, Healthy Start served 2,722 mothers, birthing people, fathers, partners, and children. We completed more than 7,000 visits with participants. We worked with 70+ partners and coalitions. We supported fathers, mothers, babies, families, and community advocates across our region.

That is what your gift helps carry forward.

Give today through the Critical Needs Alert campaign:

Tomorrow is Critical Needs Alert.

If you care about parents getting support after birth, babies sleeping safely, fathers being included, families having someone to call, doulas walking beside birthing people, breastfeeding support that meets real life, mental health care at home, and advocacy that is shaped by community voice — this is a good day to show up.

Healthy Start’s work is broad because family life is broad.

Tomorrow, your gift helps keep that work moving.

Give on August 4: https://www.pittsburghgives.org/organization/HealthyStartInc

Some of Healthy Start’s work happens one family at a time.

Some of it happens around tables where people are trying to change what families experience in the first place.

In 2025, Healthy Start worked with 70+ collaborative partners and coalitions, supported 7 community-centered research projects, and monitored more than 100 active state and federal bills impacting Black mothers, babies, and families.

Our Community Health Advocates helped carry that work into the community and directly connected with more than 15 elected officials.

Because advocacy should not feel far away from people’s lives.

The Critical Needs Alert campaign helps support the full picture of Healthy Start’s work: direct service, community voice, research, education, and systems change.
