Three Rivers Community Foundation

Three Rivers Community Foundation TRCF promotes "Change, not charity," by funding and encouraging activism among community-based organizations in Southwestern PA.

Three Rivers Community Foundation (TRCF) advances social change through grantmaking, advocacy, and capacity development for grassroots and other organizations. TRCF embraces and practices Change, not charity (TM) by empowering grantee organizations to ensure social, economic, and environmental justice in Southwestern Pennsylvania. TRCF has six key issue areas, but by no means do all the groups we fund fit into these! Disability Rights; Economic Justice; Environmental Justice; LGBTQ Rights; Racial Justice; and Women's Rights. We provide grants for both operations and projects. Founded in 1989, we have awarded more than $1.2 million to more than 300 different organizations in our 10-county region of Southwestern Pennsylvania.

On July 3, 2013, a home in Sarver (Butler County) was vandalized by having a sw****ka burned into its lawn. The owner believed it to be related to his oldest daughter being out as a le***an. Two days earlier, the family’s pickup truck was splattered with pink paint and had coins glued onto it in the shape of a middle finger, followed by the letter “U,” in addition to having “think” scratched into the paint. The actions were treated as a hate crime, but no arrest was ever made. (Photo: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)

Informed Nation: Understanding and Addressing Online Mis/Disinformation
Tuesday, October 13, 2026
8 PM ET / 5 PM PT In this 90-minute virtual workshop, hosted by OCA - Asian Pacific American Advocates and Viet Fact Check, participants will learn about problematic information that exists both online and offline. We will share tools and strategies to help participants navigate overwhelming or potentially problematic information. This workshop was developed by scholars, journalists, and media producers who have been conducting community gatherings to better understand and address the wide spread of mis-/disinformation online, particularly among intergenerational immigrant and refugee communities. While this workshop does not aim to solve the complex and pervasive communication issues in our world today, the learnings and conversations will prepare participants to mediate polarizing information and problematic narratives. https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/KNFt1OmvQaePnR9fAQNVVw?utm_source=General+Interest&utm_campaign=2ce0d0affa-EMAIL_CAMPAIGN_2026_10_05_04_26_COPY_01&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_-18143ed92e-49426401 #/registration
