Happy International Rabbit Day to our Wrangled Rabbits. To the ones who need a temporary place to crash and to the ones that are the subject of a late night panic call. To the spare room, kitchen and bathroom ones. To the ones who arrive en masse and the ones who hitch a ride from three states away. To the ones we trapped locally and the ones we haven’t (yet). To the ones who challenge us to provide life-saving care. To the ones who eat supplemental food from a plate and don’t notice the meds we’ve hidden in their pumpkin. To the ones who teach us how to give injections and take temperatures. To the ones on which we learn the Heimlich Maneuver. To the ones who need a little help to p*e and the ones who need goopy flushings. To the ones who flourished in and graduated out of chiropractic care. To the ones who mouth warning nips and the ones who latch on and hold. To the ones who really just need a haircut to distinguish danger from love. To the ones who need their greens cut into teeny, tiny pieces to the ones who teach us home demolition tips. To those who spray and the differently-abled ones who create endless baskets of laundry. To the barely noticeable, overtly pregnant ones and the orphaned ones needing round-the-clock care. To the chonky ones. To the matted ones. To the stinky ones. To the ones who need b***y baths. To the ones with long ears full of wax and to the ones without ears. To the ones who shed their coats the size of their bodies only to repeat a few days later. To the ones who like their nails long, to the ones who only need a little off the tip and of course, the three-leggeds who save us on nail trimming costs. To the ones who turn us into vegetarians because the greens we bought for them are no longer fresh enough. To the ones who will take you down at the whiff of an overly-ripe banana. To the ones who hide hay in our hair and Cocoa Puffs in our shoes. To the ones who remind us to have a plan on getting back up from the floor after spending time on their level. To the ones who make us question our coworkers if we smell like bunny p*e. To the ones who need couples counseling on neutral territory. To the ones on loan from their humans and the ones who keep requesting to come back. To the ones educating the community. To the ones teaching our techs and vets who will someday take care of them. To the ones who continually engage and sometimes challenge our Board-certified Exotic Vet. To the ones whose brief stays leave lifelong memories. And especially to the ones who broke our hearts - the ones we loved til the end.
