Did you know that over 70% of countries have abolished the death penalty in law or in practice?

Systems of justice ought to be grounded in the inherent dignity of the human person and the inalienability of the right to life. The death of the death penalty is possible.

The narrative that most immigrants are criminals is not only dehumanizing, it is untrue.

Of course, within any population there are going to be some who commit crimes, but the rate of incarceration among immigrants has been consistently lower than that of US-born Americans. In fact, native-born U.S. citizens are more than twice as likely to be arrested for violent crimes than undocumented immigrants (doi: 10.1073/pnas.2014704117).

Immigrants are human beings. We should work to reduce violent crime, but we can do so without dehumanizing and vilifying an entire population.
