Some people don’t choose the work.Sometimes the work is in you, or who you become.
Pittsburgh designer grew up making storybooks with his father on a cast iron letterpress in the basement. It took him decades to understand what that really was: a life spent telling stories, quietly driven by love for his father and the desire to make him proud. He turned that love, and eventually his grief, into purpose.
That is the same truth The Hear Foundation is built on.
Our founder turned his own pain into a mission to rebuild trust between our community and public safety. You make your pain purposeful. You lead with love. You start the hard conversations.
And the way that trust actually gets rebuilt is through storytelling. People have to see each other as human first.
Stephen has spent his whole life on that exact craft, which is why he belongs on this block.
